The
Experience
You’ll feel your spirits lift here with a double height kitchen to cook in, an upstairs living room with gorgeous views over rolling hills and a wood-burner for rainy days – lovely to watch a film or read a book in here while the weather does its worst at the windows. There are maps and guidebooks to help you plan walks and you’re near to sweet little Widecombe in the Moor. So pack a picnic and head out for blustery hikes, or get in the car for the coast just half an hour away with sandy and pebble beaches. Hire bikes and cycle (safely) on the Moor or explore Totnes and Ashburton – make sure you have a traditional cream tea on the way home. The river Dart is near for summer swimming, there’s a pub in Holne a mile away and you have a fenced in, hillside garden of your own with a hammock waiting in the shade of a tree and a barbecue for long, light evenings. The star-gazing here is good on cloud-free nights and Fran leaves you a bottle of wine and home baked biscuits.

Local points of interest from Francesca Wadia
- Nestled in a valley near the small village of Holne Shuttaford Barn is a recently converted barn on a 16thC Dartmoor farmstead on the edge of the moors. We are 2 local Architects who have renovated the Farm house and barns and raising our 2 young boys
- The barn has its own secluded garden accessed via its private driveway along side the old Apple orchard
- We're located in a hidden valley just outside the village of Holne. Holne has an excellent community run village shop, and a newly reopened classic country pub.
- Totnes is a 20 minute drive with lots of cafes, restaurants, shops and markets. Nearby places to visit for foodies include Riverford Farm and Field Kitchen and Sharpham Vineyard. Just 10 minutes is the town of Ashburton with its Artisanal bakers and Deli.
- We have a guide book curated for our guests of all our favourite local shops, restaurants, bakeries, walks and secluded beaches away from the bustling crowds to help you get away from your busy life.
- The moor is right on our doorstep and you can be on the wilds of Dartmoor exploring its ancient Tors, valleys, rivers, villages and pubs by foot, bike or car within minutes. Notably on the Moor are the villages of Lustleigh, Mortenhampstead and Widdecombe.

Introducing
Francesca Wadia
Fran is the genius behind this barn conversion. She and her partner, Phil, are architects and moved down to Devon from London with their two children to live a more rural life in the farmhouse. They’ve converted the barn with great sensitivity and with lots of consultation with the people from Dartmoor National Park. She’ll make sure you’re happily settled in, then leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet.
One of the finest barn conversions I've ever stepped foot in! I came away thinking about what a great spot it would be for friends to catch up in or what a brilliant family holiday we'd have. I mainly came away in awe of Fran's architectural and interior design skills. The location is great because you're on Dartmoor and can use it as a base to explore but so close to escaping back to the main road back to Exeter or Plymouth.
