The
Experience
A traditional stone and thatch cottage with a funky city loft feel. It’s all on one floor and warm as toast. Bring an early morning cup of tea back to bed and gaze over the Blackdown Hills while cocooned in goose down.Excellent hikes start straight from the door straight into the hills or you can puff up Golden Cap for wonderful coastal views in both directions. Branscombe and Beer are 11 miles away for more walks, pretty pebble beaches and the Jurassic coast. Kite surfing from Exmouth is just half an hour away.Rustle up supper in an industrial kitchen, barbecue on your little patch of lawn after a sundowner – you can stoke up the chimenea if there’s a nip in the air. This is romantic for a couple.

Location
The neighbourhood
Cotleigh is a picturesque and tiny village at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in the heart of the unspoilt farmland of East Devon. The village includes a church, village hall, pretty houses and farm holdings but no pub. There are many within a short driving distance though. It’s three miles to the east of the market town of Honiton where you’ll find shops and places to eat - a couple of miles further south is the spectacular Jurassic Coast.
Local points of interest from Beachspoke .
- Recently renovated The Barn is filled with all the mod cons you would want for a fun getaway in the country.
- A picturesque 1 bed thatched barn conversion with views of the stunning Devonshire landscape everywhere you look.
- With tearooms, farm shops and plenty of idyllic pubs nearby, The Barn is a unique rental cottage for two who want to explore the wonders of Devon or simply enjoy the calm of the countryside.
- Near here is ‘World of Country Life’ and ‘Crealy Adventure Park’, as well as the best kite surfing beach in the UK we are told!
- In Sidmouth you will find lots of nice independent shops, a very pretty sea front and superb sea views of the Jurassic Coast. Drive up the big hill to the west for superb views, and carry on to Otterton for walks to the coast alongside the river.
