The
Experience
The tides dominate the Inn’s ebb and flow with many visitors arriving by boat. Voted South West Dining pub of the year 2016/2017, the food is a fusion of French cuisine and Devon produce, with on-the-doorstep fish and game. The pub clientele are local, and a lively cross-section of characters include farmers and the wealthy Salcombe set. The menu covers all bases, from pan-roasted pigeon breast to chicken supreme, as you warm yourself by the fire. The wine list is extensive, with French the keynote thanks to chef Jean-Phillippe, especially Languedoc Roussillon.Your studio suite has a marvellous private terrace overlooking the beer garden and brook. On crowded days from your elevated terrace you’ll see customers jumping the brook to reach the meadow.

Location
The neighbourhood
South Pool sits on the bank of the Kingsbridge Estuary. The clifftop cottages at Prawle or the lighthouse at Start Point are within a five-minute drive. Walk miles along the rugged clifftops, get the ferry to Salcombe or make your own gin at Salcombe Gin Distillery. Water lovers can rent a sailing boat, take a fishing trip, or explore the estuary in a canoe or paddleboard.
Local points of interest from Charlie Baker
- Head chef JP and his team have won many awards over the years, but we are very proud to have won of South-West Dining Pub of the Year 2016.
- Play pooh sticks in the bubbling brook below your private balcony or moor your boat on our pontoon 500m. Approximately 1mile to Salcombe for shopping.
- Excellent surfing, SUP, sailing and canoeing locally.
- We run a Butchery Evening on the second Wednesday of every month between September and March
- South Hams Brewery within 5 minutes drive of us - superb local beer and a fabulous farm shop
- Visit Slapton Sands - site of the Normandy Beach landings practise disaster and also home to the largest fresh water lake in the South-West of England.

Introducing
Charlie Baker
Tess and Charlie came to Devon to bring up their two girls in a paradise of sea, swimming, surf and (often) sunshine. Charlie is the ocean boy and it’s hard keeping him away from the surfing, stand-up-paddle surfing (SUP), kitesurfing, canoeing and swimming. Tess plays hockey and netball for the Kingsbridge sides, when she’s not busy being a mum.
