The
Experience
This is the best kind of house for a large get-together: ramshackle rather than pristine but full of character. Tony and Plym live on the property and are relaxed and unobtrusive but there if you need anything. The Grade II-listed Old Rectory has an adjoining Coach House and there are extra rooms in the pool house too so there’s masses of space to spread out. Outside find a walled garden, an outdoor heated swimming pool and a little hall with a stage for events. There’s a grand piano and children will love the snooker room, table tennis and a dressing-up box. Explore the surrounding woodlands or wander down to the village pub in ten minutes; surfers can head to Bude or Widemouth in Cornwall, 20 minutes’ drive away.

For more of a challenge, a section of the South West Coast Path with dramatic cliff walks can be reached in about a 20-minute drive. The village pub, The Molesworth Arms in Pyworthy, is a ten-minute amble; if you need to stock up on supplies, Holsworthy is a ten-minute drive.

Introducing
Plym Peters
Plym and Tony have been slowly renovating the house ever since they moved in 35 years ago. They work together as translators – the property is full of their books – and they live in one half of the pool house when they're not in Spain. When they’re away, Tony’s son Chris and his wife Nika are on hand to help if needed.
