The
Experience

An immaculate harbourside retreat. Renate’s attention to detail shows how much she loves running her B&B and welcoming guests. From fluffy dressing gowns and bathroom treats to biscuits and sherry – she and John look after you with heart-warming generosity.

Bedrooms are so comfortable; the Harbour Suite is huge and has views across the sparkling harbour and over to the Purbeck Hills. The breakfast table gleams with Spode china and Renate offers a superb choice: exotic fruits with Parma ham, warm figs or Morello cherry compote with Greek yogurt and honey, ‘posh porridge’, smoked salmon, poached eggs, muffins, smoked haddock gratin…

Sit out under the vine-covered arbour, walk through the park to the colourful huts by the sea, take a boat trip to Brownsea Island and spot red squirrels, Sika deer and masses of birds.

Reviews

Absolutely top of the pile! The Harbour Suite is perfect. Comfortable lounge area looking out over Poole Harbour, a spacious balcony, the large en-suite with both a walk-in shower and bath, a useful kitchen for those staying in for the evening ......... and a super-comfortable super-king-size bed. And then there's breakfast ...... we stayed four nights and we simply couldn't make it past the "posh porridge", "super salmon" and/or the "heavenly haddock"! So, sorry, we can't comment on the Full English. Thank you both, John and Renate. You deserve medals.

Michael, Tunbridge wells

Renate & John are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them & the house is spotlessly clean, comfortable & warm. My breakfasts were of the high standard found in a top class hotel, absolutely delicious. I've stayed in lots of Sawdays B&B's but this is quite possibly the best one. I intend to visit again when the weather is warmer.

Carol, London

Absolutely adored John and Renate. We had a lovely stay, we were made to feel special with perfect weather and the food delicious (Renate is a lovely cook). The Harbour Suite has everything you need for a short or long stay. Thanks to you both for your hospitality.

Janet, Hertfordshire

John and Renata greeted my wife and I royally, tea and cake, yummy do,S . Do try the posh porridge at breakfast ( should carry a health warning ). John took the trouble to run us to a nearby restaurant , then on a phone call came And got us......how kind is that. If your looking at BB in Poole just go there.. If our travels take us that way again we will.

Michael, Overton hants.

Wonderful welcome and beautiful room with everything you could ever need not to mention view, balcony and kitchen. Am fussy over beds but this one was first class as were the sheets and the breakfast was memorable, so much so missed out on lunch. Brought up in the area, feel I have found home from home.

Visited Bering house for 4 nights, upon arrival both Renate and John were so welcoming, the Harbour suite views are amazing and you have all the facilities you could wish for, having a small kitchen with even a dishwasher in it! 2 mins walk and your on the beach in front of the wonderful beach huts. Poole Quay is a pleasant 20 mins walk way with all the facilities that it provides. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here, book now you will not be disappointed!

We have just arrived home after spending five nights at Bering House in Poole. It was excellent. Renate and John are the most wonderful hosts and their breakfasts are the best we have ever had.

Jack

Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable... add to that friendly, welcoming hosts and a breakfast to die for and you have one of the most desirable B&B experiences in the country at a great value price. We have visited twice and hope to do so many more times.

Christine & andrew, Hayling island

We had a brilliant time and were very well looked after from the moment we arrived. Very friendly welcome. Lovely people. Wonderful breakfasts. Beautiful house. Quiet situation. Very convenient for the Poole area. We hope to go again.

Our first time at Bering House but certainly not our last visit. John and Renate made us feel so very welcome. We had a lovely room, fabulous breakfasts located in a wonderful setting. We were only away for 3 days but we wished we had stayed longer. We're so pleased we decided to stay here. Warm and Friendly hospitality. We've found a place we will return to. Thank you again to Renate and John.

Steve, Chester

Excellent accommodation & Renata & John could not be more friendly & helpful

Brenda, Epping

We decided to come down from London to Dorset for a short break and chose Bering House on the basis of the review and proximity to Purbeck. We were very pleased with our choice. John and Renate are wonderful hosts and make you feel very welcome. Breakfasts are excellent. There is a lot to do in that area - our favourite was the Studland area and walking on the cliffs, but there is no shortage of activities available.

Philip, London

Thrilled with everything about our stay here and the friendly professionalism of both our hosts with the added personal touches. The special porridge is to die for, don't miss it.

Catherine, Coventry

We recently visited Poole and stayed again with Renate and John at Bering House. And what a pleasure it was! They are the most thoughtful and generous of hosts. Their house is both beautiful and comfortable. They have taken endless care to make it a great place to stay and they both go out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast is a true ‘Sawday Special’! A fine table service but, more than that, an absolutely delicious breakfast. If you go to Poole, see if you can book at Bering House. Wonderful location. Wonderful hosts. Wonderful beds. Wonderful breakfast. What more could you ask?!

Charles, Torpoint

A quiet location minutes (walk) from the beach and absolutely perfect for a night-stop before the early morning ferry to France - as in our case! The warmest of welcomes, chauffered to the sailing club nearby for dinner (superb) and then back to a lovely, comfortable room for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was a surprise - fantastic choice and quality, beautifully served and all the more so as we were departing early! We vowed to return and for a longer stay, ideally to explore the area and so as to really enjoy this lovely, warm, high-quality B&B. Top marks to John and Renate!

Mark, Tewkesbury, gloucs

A fabulous B&B with warm & friendly hosts. The attention to detail was amazing; which superseded our high expectations. John & Renata spoil you from the moment you arrive, until you reluctantly leave their beautiful home at the end of your stay We had the Suite, which was high spec & wonderful, complete indulgence Renata is a wonderful cook, & breakfast was a treat for the palate. Delicacies include fresh fruit salad (mango, strawberries, blueberries & raspberries etc), greek yogurt & honey, 'posh' porridge (incredible!), smoked salmon, full English etc etc the list is endless! We will return

Karen, Bristol

Berings is an excellent B & B, providing top-notch accommodation. The bedroom I had was very large and luxurious, with superb views over the park and out to Poole Harbour. John and Renate were the most welcoming, helpful and informative hosts, and the full English breakfast was excellent. I would very strongly recommend this B & B.

Richard, Cobham

Introducing

Renate & John Wadham

John and Renate have boundless energy. Renate adores her garden and loves to cook. John is an engineer, keen on his vegetable patch, tennis and sailing. Apart from running this popular bed and breakfast they find time to host charity events for local causes in their home and garden. Many of their guests return time and again and often book a year in advance.
