The Experience

Walk in under the selenite crystal (cleansing you of negative energy) to find peace in nature, and listen to your inner voice – writers, readers, poets and artists will be inspired. Downstairs is an open-plan living space filled with colour, a modern kitchen to the side with a handmade wooden table, vintage tea services and pretty china. Teas, coffee and a tin of local biscuits will be waiting for you.

Up in the eaves is the bedroom with bottle lights strung from the ceiling, gold-painted beams, a rare apophyllite crystal from Glastonbury to watch over you while you sleep and scented sprays for your pillow; in the next room a deep bath (rose quartz crystals below will help you unbend) with a good shower. An alarm clock encourages you to turn your phone off.

From the cottage you can stroll over the hill to the South Coast Path and magnificent views of the Jurassic coastline. Come back for lunch at the well-loved pub, The Smuggler’s Inn.

Reviews

Outstanding place to stay!!!!! Beautiful location and easy access to numerous beaches. Ringstead bay and the walk between Lulworth cove and Durdle door were personal favourites of ours. We instantly felt at home in this place and the beautiful finish inside was breathtaking. The communication with the owner was outstanding. Would definitely book again in the future.

Sherin's cottage was really gorgeous, clean and had everything we needed. There isn't a TV, but the Wi-Fi is good. The rooms are decorated in such a cool way and the bed was very comfy. There's a lovely little dairy farm with a tea room practically next door, and you're only a 15 min drive from Weymouth in one direction, and Lulworth Cove/Durdle door in the other.

I am an author and it was a perfect creative space for me. It has a very special energy. Beautifully furnished cottage, and a great location. It is a short drive to Ringstead Bay which is much less touristy than Lulworth Cove etc, and was my absolute favourite place nearby. Good easy communication from the host.

We had such a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage! It was the perfect place to relax for a few days and brilliant for getting out and seeing the coast! We went to Ringstead Bay to watch the sunset and parked in the National Trust car park, but be warned it was a bit of a trek back up afterwards! Spent a day at Lulworth cove and walked over to Durdle Door…the views were beautiful. The cottage was better than in the pictures and had everything we needed; the kitchen had plenty of utensils and the shower was lovely! We had a brilliant stay.

Sherin's cottage is gorgeous and was such a relaxing and peaceful space to spend the weekend in. It was very clean and couldn't have asked for anything more. The location is fantastic, we made our way to the Smugglers Inn for an evening meal and made the short drive to Weymouth for a few days out. A great getaway for my partner's birthday and feeling refreshed! Thank you Sherin

Danielle, Bristol

A wonderful few days in a cosy, comfortable and beautifully decorated cottage. Sherin made sure that everything was as it should be and was the perfect host. Thank you, we hope to return.

Fantastic home, great attention to detail, has everything you can think of. Couldn’t wait to get back to the cottage after a day walking to Weymouth and back. Hope to come back soon, relax and explore the area more.

Sherin, an artist, and her father have restored this cottage with aplomb! I loved the colourful interiors full of her own creations with eclectic artwork and handmade textiles. It is the perfect place to wind down, listen to music, do some yoga. The walk from the cottage to the nearby Smugglers Inn is magic - coastal views to die for! Bathe in crystal energy after a long day in the deep bath.

We booked this cottage for our Valentine's weekend. It simply stood out and we had to book it, giving how lovely it looked, and its ideal location, close to many hikes and beaches which we'd planned on visiting. Exceedingly tasteful decor, spotless, beautiful, warm, and everything was in perfectly working order. The beach is a short walk away, the Osmington White Horse is a couple of miles the other way, Durdle Door is 15 minute drive to the east, and Weymouth and 10 minute drive to the west. We did all of that. Perfect location. We had a fantastic weekend.

Location

The neighbourhood

There's a friendly dairy farm a few steps away which sells local produce and has a café. Weymouth’s lively harbour (a 10-minute drive) is full of pavement cafés and lined with fishing boats. The best fish and chips are from The Old Harbour near the quay. Radipole Lake, an RSPB nature reserve is a 10-minute drive. The prettiest and quietest beach nearby is at Ringstead Bay - £5 parking in the summer.

Local points of interest from Sherin Shefik

  • Walk to Smugglers Inn from the cottage (about 20 minutes). It’s a wonderful pub all year round with fantastic food. Or try the circular walk around the White Horse with great views and stop in at The Spring Head pub in the pretty Sutton Poyntz.
  • Bathe in art and nature at Sculpture by the Lakes. Nestled in 26 acres of Dorset’s glorious countryside, it is an oasis for art and nature lovers, with outstandingly beautiful spots to sit, read, reflect, write, or have a picnic, plus a cafe and gallery.
  • Drive to the Chesil Beach carpark, and pick up take-away fish and chips on the way from Daniels. Walk over wooden bridge and over the mound for the most wonderful view of the 18 mile long beach. Gorge on your fish and chips. Just unbeatable.
  • One of my fav things to do is to drive to the free National Trust car park at Ringstead Bay (8 min drive), and either walk along the cliff edge towards the coastguard cottages and the best-bench-ever, or walk down the hill for sunset beers on the beach.
  • Walk from Lulworth Cove over to Durdle Door beach (about 15 mins drive to Lulworth). This stunning walk connects two of the biggest stars of the Jurassic Coast. It is a must do. Stop for lunch or ice cream in the lovely Lulworth village.
  • Drive to a lovely café called Hive Beach Café. It serves fresh, locally and ethically sourced produce, focusing on fish and seafood. It has a lovely wrap around patio. Gorgeous walks down the long beach.
