Giddy Acre Barn

Blandford Forum, Dorset

An easy, relaxing barn conversion with eye-stretching views and all a family could want: cosy unprecious rooms, games, garden, visits galore

3 bedrooms

Sleeps 6

Escape to a pretty Dorset village where locals leave doors unlocked, pubs and post office thrive, and walks and bike paths spider through wooded hills and horse paddocks towards the coast. Simple, unspoilt and great for families – as is this chunky wood-clad barn which Tim and Kelly revived next to their cottage. From a young garden, lavender-scented with hints of honeysuckle and jasmine, views shoot to Hambledon Hill, a prehistoric hill fort and local beauty spot. Dine out among gambolling bunnies or loll back on the swing watching buzzards circle. Plenty to keep kids happy in the open-plan sitting room, with books and games in wicker chests, modern leather sofas, a toasty wood-burner (free logs). The organic eggs in your welcome pack are from the local farm shop, the contemporary art from Kelly’s gallery. Relax – nothing is too precious: kids, dogs are welcome. Bedrooms – two cosy doubles (one is en suite) and a simple bunk – are compact, as are bathrooms. But cathedral ceilings and tall glass doors make all feel large and light. Tim and Kelly are relaxed, generous, and the views stretch for miles.

What a perfect spot to enjoy the gorgeous Dorset countryside. Kelly and Tim have created a really comfortable place to stay- they've thought of everything, even down to a few board games in the cupboard. We spent 2 weeks here, did some fantastic walks with our dog up and around Hambledon Hill and beyond. A great location to explore the coast as well as inland and of course to enjoy the excellent pubs in the area. We shall be back!

A beautiful place with a fantastic view. A very comfortable and well located barn. Calm and sited in the most beautiful countryside. Lovely owners.
