Bed & Breakfast

A smart contemporary home of oak and glass on 1,000-acre Dorset farm. Fresh-laid eggs, dinner on the terrace, walks galore from the village

You’re in Dorset’s highest village – the views sprawl for miles. Tessa and Ian’s home has eclectic art, green oak beams, uncluttered rooms and a great sense of space. Light floods in through the floor to ceiling windows that frame those views out beyond the decking, past the chickens to Win Green. (“Emmerdale meets Grand Designs” to quote a happy guest). Aga-cooked breakfasts include local bacon and home-laid eggs; dinner might be roast pheasant – served on the terrace in summer (Tessa does shoot catering). Bedrooms, one up, one down, are hotel-swish with big beds, bold colours and flowers. Join the Wessex Ridgeway from the village.

We have just come back from two nights with the Millards at Glebe Farm, Ashmore. (B&B book). We had a lovely room with everything one could need, including a fridge with fresh milk and soft drinks. Tessa cooked us an excellent meal the second night.
