This is a place to come and hide – to sit out in the bird-filled garden with a good book, or to explore the lovely countryside around you. You have everything in one space – a big bed in one corner, a little kitchenette in another with all you need for holiday cooking and a wood-burner to take off the chill.
Sunlight streaks through the cottage windows on warmer days and there’s a sun-trap patio for summery drinks. An orchard garden is yours to sit in and filled with hawthorn and roses with a spindle hedge around the edge of the lawn. You’ll spot birds, moths, butterflies and bees (there are hives here) and all the land around you is organic.
Walk to Powerstock Common in ten minutes for hikes or strolls and a pond with crested newts; explore Kingcombe Meadows to discover the sort of wildlife which used to be present on every single farm. Powerstock with The Three Horseshoes Pub is a ten-minute drive or half-hour walk; Bridport (20 minutes’ drive) has a good market on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
