The Experience
Two chic cottages in a majestic estate flanked by orchards and organic vegetable gardens. Take a drink – or sketchpad – to the terrace for views of Wimborne Minster, distant cricket matches and the birds over Stour Meadows; sunsets are stunning. Exposed stonework reflects the 18th-century origins of these Georgian gardeners’ cottages. Clean-lined interiors reflect 21st-century design. Spotlights gleam off brick walls washed in porcelain white, a rustic yet contemporary canvas for original oils, vintage chairs, oriental cushions. Apple has an inglenook fireplace, Plum a spacious elm table to enjoy if you take both cottages together. Sisal carpets lead to simple bedrooms where linen blinds frame meadow views. Cook and eat in modern country kitchens then step out to a private garden lined with fruit trees; each cottage has it’s own gravel patio with removable fencing allowing them to be opened up when booking Apple and Plum together. Plum comes with its own shepherd’s hut: duck egg blue walls and a French enamelled wood-burner. An easy walk from historic Wimborne, a short drive from blue flag beaches at Poole and Bournemouth, and perfect for big groups who can book both cottages and the nearby Gate House.

Just home from a lovely stay at Plum cottage! We got married at Deans Court and decided to rent the cottage for the week over the wedding. The cottage is beautiful, very clean and although has been modernised has kept a lot of charm and character. I was in the beautiful bath within an hour of arriving and then every day after!

Apple Cottage looks magical on the Deans Court website and it’s even more special when you see it for the first time.... The rooms are all a good size ... We all enjoyed using the large bath and having long breakfasts around the spacious dining table. The sitting room has a wood burner and there’s plenty of wood in a nearby outhouse. The windows mainly look over a large field giving you the sense of being in the country rather than a town. Our weekend stay just didn’t feel long enough and we all agreed we felt very much at home and would like to stay again. What a gem of a place.

Just got back from our stay and with three generations I wasn’t sure if it was going to be suitable for all but in fact everyone was happy and enjoyed the whole experience Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and beautiful views and skies, almost like being in a Constable painting The shepherd’s hut was the most popular by far and apparently really comfortable and warm We are now planning our next visit as there is much more we want to see and do

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Jonathan Cornish
- Situated within the grounds of Deans Court, these C18th farm-hands’ cottages have been renovated to provide contemporary comfort in a rural setting.
- To get the cottages you will drive past the walled-kitchen garden, where vegetables are grown for our veg baskets.
- Visit the Deans Court Cafe, enjoy salads, soups, homemade quiches, cakes etc. Open everyday except Sunday. Also pop into our vintage shop situated in a converted squash court adjacent to the cafe.
- An easy walk from historic Wimborne, with a great selection of restaurants and shops. (Including a Waitrose)
- For large groups, we also have The Gate House (sleeping 16) and we can arrange for all levels of catering as suits your needs - get in touch for more info.

Our group stayed at both cottages and the Gate House for a family wedding. The cottages are just delightful...immaculately presented, scrupulously clean and with all sorts of additional little touches which made our stay perfect. Was very pleased to see the environmentally friendly efforts as well(Who gives a c**p loo roll, SMOL household cleaner etc, recycling bins). And the setting is idyllic. I can only thoroughly and completely recommend. Plus a 5 minute max walk into lovely Wimborne. Wish we were back there!!!
