The
Experience

The Bull was Dorset’s first boutique hotel, a cool little place with lovely staff, an informal vibe, tasty food and lots of colour. It was bought by Fullers in 2014, who immediately poured in a small fortune to make it even better. The results are dreamy – airy interiors, big art, some fancy new bathrooms and a chic new restaurant. It remains as friendly as ever and draws a local crowd, who come for coffee and cake, a cool bar that rocks at weekends, even a masked ball on New Year’s Eve. All of which makes it a lot of fun for guests passing through. Downstairs, you’ll find an open fire, stripped wood floors and a pint of London Pride in the bar; in summer, life decants onto a flower-filled courtyard. Colourful bedrooms – all different – have lots of style: beautiful beds, pashmina throws, chic wallpapers, perhaps a bath at the foot of your bed. Some have sofas, family rooms have bunk beds for kids. You get digital radios, flat-screen TVs, then cool bathrooms, some with big power showers. Don’t miss the food, perhaps Portland crab, Dorset lamb, coconut panna cotta. Chesil Beach is close.

Reviews

A special place which well deserves your recommendation. Good food, nice ambience, good service. Good, proper cider choices in garden 'Stable' bar.
