The Experience
Come for the food; it’s exciting and deeply rooted in the local area. The best British seasonal produce is showcased: local meat and game, fresh fish from the south west coast, a drinks list that champions local producers – try sparkling Devon wine. Inside, there are cosy corners to read the paper, a bar to prop up with a local ale in hand and a garden dining room for candlelit evening suppers.
So far there are two guest bedrooms, more are planned, and there’s talk of yurts in the woodland. Rooms are spacious, relaxing; one has a private courtyard, the annexe is spread over two floors. Find books, boardgames, a mini bar (locally stocked, of course). Bathrooms are spoiling.
Parties of up to ten guests should book the Kitchen Library, where you’ll find Mark’s many books, kitchen paraphernalia, drinks on arrival, and a menu created by Mark and his head chef. What a treat. Walk it all off on a ramble around the rolling countryside.

Local points of interest from Mark Hix
- Beaminster is just a 4 mile drive away - ten minutes in the car, with independent shops and restaurants.
- Bridport is just 20 minutes drive away. A large town with regular markets. Don't miss the brewery tour at Palmer's Brewery.
- We are in the heart of the countryside so great for walkers, and as we accept dogs in all areas of the pub, it's perfect for a short country break in Dorset with the dogs.
- Our sister restaurant The Oyster & Fish House is just half an hour away with stunning views of the Jurassic Cost and the best fish and seafood in the area. Guests will receive a 10% discount when dining.
- Visit the Black Cow distillery in Childhay. Their award winning vodka is made purely from milk.

Introducing
Mark Hix
Renowned restaurateur, chef and food writer, Mark Hix, opened the doors to The Fox Inn in December 2020. After 13 years running HIX restaurants in London he's come home to Dorset, opening the inn, as well as The Oyster & Fish House in Lyme Regis and the HIX Oyster & Fish Truck in Morcombelake (both within visiting distance). You're looked after by the general manager, Spiros and team - a friendly bunch.
Traditional countryside pub with thatched roof, open fires and cosy corners. Lots of character and a few quirky touches. Responsibly produced and carefully sourced dishes served by friendly and attentive staff. A true gem!
