Rooms sleep 2

This pretty Georgian house has a canal on the doorstep and a garden full of roses. Maisie and Shane’s home is a relaxed place to stay – a just-baked tray of cakes might be waiting (they’re event caterers), and their young children along with cheerful dachshund Shackleton welcome you too. Find an elegant drawing room with an open fire, and restful top floor bedrooms with excellent linen on deep mattresses. Breakfast in the dining room is a local, homemade continental spread: granola, jams, pastries, garden fruits. Stroud, with its fun Saturday market, is a hop, the Cotswold Way runs by; easy 15-minute walk to a foodie pub in Selsey too.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Maisie McBagley

  • Bridge house was built in the late 1700 and was the home of the mill owner which sits behind the house.
  • Stroud is an eclectic area full of wonderful things to do and see from the Wetlands in Slimbridge to the award winning Saturday Farmers Market.
  • The surrounding valleys are chocked full of culinary delights including fine dining at Wilder in the market town of Nailsworth and superb pub grub a 20 min walk away at the Bell in Selsley.
  • Winstones ice cream parlour perched on top of Rodborough common make the creamiest frozen treats in the area and the milk comes right from the cows that graze the land around them. A real treat whilst taking in the magnificent views of the five valleys.
  • If you like walking, there are some tremendous strolls locally, the canal right outside the front door can be followed all the way to stroud town centre and beyond to the Chalford Valley.
  • We are a 30 minute drive from the beautiful town of Cheltenham, famous for its race course and regency architecture as well as great shopping. We're also only 45 minutes from the beautiful city of Bath which is steeped in Roman history.
