Gather together family or friends and switch off here surrounded by much comfort and many lovely things to look at. Nothing has been skimped on: thick mattresses, delicious-smelling lotions and potions, fat sofas and squishy cushions, great lighting and bold art. Kitchens are state of the art and include all the gear for the fussiest of cooks but you can be looked after with a concierge service if you prefer. In any event you’ll find everything you need for your first breakfast waiting for you: local bacon and eggs, bread from the bakery in Stow, honey from bees down the road and delicious crunchy granola with local milk.
Authentic rustic features rub shoulders with Smart TVs and sound systems so even on rainy days you can snuggle up by the wood-burner and feel cosseted – you’ll also find a basket of games for young and old. When the sun shines you’ll throw open the doors and head for the south-facing garden with table and chairs for long and lazy meals and a big gas-fired barbecue – stock up at the Organic Farm Shop just a 10-minute drive away.
A footpath will lead you to Bibury and its famously photogenic cottages. You can also get afternoon tea and good food at the Swan hotel and it’s a very short stumble home. There are oodles of bridleways and footpaths for walks.
