A beautiful mellow stone house bordered by a murmuring stream, next to the green of a little Cotswolds’ village… weekend breaks don’t come more relaxing than this. Stay all week, lazing with a book in the hammock, catching trout in the lake, cosying up with games by the log fire – of which there are three. Recent refurbishments are sympathetic to the history of this listed mid 17th-century house (originally a school, with a wheelwright’s in the stables). Now you find the ground floor opened up to create a comfortable drawing room at one end, a dining room and breakfast room at the other and a superb state-of-the-art kitchen in between. Oak floors are heated underfoot, there’s a catering-size oven and an Aga, and a grand piano for playing. Bedrooms above come in comfortable family style, with soft carpeting and muted colours, books, flowers and views of the wonderful garden. Bathrooms gleam. Pull on the hiking boots, spin off on the bikes, visit Cirencester, Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold. Come home to lovely lawns sloping down to the lake, and celebratory drinks on the big barbecue terrace.

The house and gardens are absolutely stunning and kept immaculately. There were fresh flowers, crisp sheets on arrival. In fact, the whole place was decked out with everything we could have wanted and didn't realise we might need (two dishwashers - inspired)! Thank you Patricia - truly, we couldn't rate our stay at Swan House more highly.

Sophie, Cirencester

Beautiful house and lovely garden with lots of wildlife and plenty of space. Great venue for a large family gathering in the Cotswolds.

Mary, Troon

Perfect setting for a family / friends gathering. Outstanding facilities with every mod con you could imagine,if only my own home was so well equipped! Beds are extremely comfortable and it is so gloriously peaceful you cannot help but switch off completely. Do not hesitate to book.

Judith, London

Swan House is the ideal place for family gatherings. With so many bedrooms, bathrooms, spacious accommodation and amazing grounds, you don't feel on top of each other. It's so peaceful in the garden with the lake and stream. Mike and Patricia have really kitted out the house with everything you'd need. Nobody in our party wanted to leave
