The Experience

You’ve got absolutely everything you need on tap plus your independence: a gorgeous farm shop so you can cook from scratch in the pretty kitchen, a deli with home cooked meals you can simply heat up, or a table at the organic restaurant. It’s all on one level and filled with very beautiful glass, china, rugs and pots – all of which you can buy at the shop and cottage guests get a discount.

Snuggle up by the see-through wood-burner (sofa on one side, lovely big bed on the other) with a DVD on the flat screen or a board game with a bottle of wine from the very bounteous welcome hamper. You also get freshly-baked bread from the artisan bakery, organic butter and cream from the dairy, tasty free-range eggs, wine of each colour and gin. Light pours in through garden doors from the bedroom and you have a little table and chairs in the communal courtyard garden.

There are bridleways to explore with maps and bikes to borrow or set off on footpaths for miles – hikers can join the Cotswold Way. Walk to Daylesford’s sister pub, The Wild Rabbit in half an hour – return to a spot of unwinding with a free yoga, pilates, sound healing or meditation class in the Bamford Haybarn Spa. You can join cookery and floristry courses too.

The neighbourhood

Once you're here you probably won't want to budge - it's that sort of place. You're surrounded by over two thousand acres of organic farm and much of what is reared or grown here you can buy or eat. There are cookery courses running all year such as artisan breadmaking, nose to tail butchery, ferments to eat and drink or how to make quick and simple suppers. Floristry courses and workshops use flowers from the cutting garden. You can practise yoga, pilates and meditation or book a massage at the Bamford Haybarn Spa. Pedal off on free bikes down plenty of footpaths, walk for miles, visit lovely Cotswold villages. For a change of scene The Feathered Nest at Nether Westcote is a good pub.
