The
Experience

Your own timber-framed house with masses of light and space, a sunny terrace, and spectacular valley and woodland views… A peaceful secluded place, it’s full of books and mementoes of Sue’s treks across the world; the large living room has wooden floors, lovely old oak furniture and French windows onto the rose-filled garden. Sue brims with enthusiasm and is a flexible host: breakfast can be over in her kitchen with delicious farm shop sausages and bacon, or continental in yours at a time to suit you. There’s a wet room downstairs, and you hop up the stairs to your charming up-in-the-eaves bedroom with oriental rugs and a big comfy bed. Wonderful!

Arrive as strangers - leave as friends. This is how we felt on our first visit 5 years ago and why we have come back every year since. The Guesthouse is undoubtedly the best place we have ever stayed and Sue is one the nicest, funniest, kindest people you could ever hope to meet. Nothing is too much trouble for her and chatting with her over a long breakfast in her delightful home, which is separate to The Guesthouse, is the best part and a great start to the day. The Guesthouse has everything you need for a relaxing and peaceful break. Visit once and you will definitely want to come back!

What a delight! A wonderful secluded location in the bucolic Cotswolds and the best host you could wish for. What an interesting and entertaining person Sue is. She was careful to assess how much hands-on we wanted; happy to leave us to our own plans or to have a chat over a cup of tea and provide information about the historic aspects of Bagendon... which was one of the reasons for our visit. Excellent and plentiful food too. This was a great experience that enhanced our vacation. Thank you!

Bernard, San francisco

One of the most delightful places we've ever stayed in. Wonderful welcome and attention throughout our stay.

Harvey, London

We have been here at least five times now. Every time the welcome is warm, funny and helpful. The place is beautifully appointed with marvellous views of the surrounding countryside and generous offerings of food and drink to snack upon. Delicious breakfast, traveller's tales and great attention to the detail of what you like - remembered on your return! Highly reccommended.

A delightful place to stay, not one room, but a whole beautiful barn, filled with books, flowers and comfortable furniture in a glorious location. Sue has thought of everything and is a consummate host.

Janet, Stafford

A two day break near Cirencester was a treat for us both. Set in a beautiful picturesque valley north of the town, the accommodation was lovely and warm, comfortable, well equipped with great views across the valley. Sue was a marvellous host, welcoming, helpful, funny and hugely entertaining. Would recommend a visit strongly.

Martyn, Bridgnorth

This is the kind of place we don't want to tell people about in case it becomes too popular and we can't go back! It's tucked away in a pretty village in a Cotswold valley. Being separate from Sue's own house means privacy and peace but Sue is a thoughtful and generous host who has many interesting stories to tell over breakfast (unless you'd prefer to have that on your own.) The Guesthouse is beautifully furnished, with treasures from Sue's travels alongside lovely furniture.

Lorna, Sheffield

Sue's Guesthouse (and the welcome we received from her) really is the gem you hope that you you are going to find on these websites. A small track from the village (rather optimitsically called a "road" and with a heavy hedgerow that obscures it in June!) leads you to Sue's lovely house and a barn next to it that has been converted for guests. It's a beautiful, secret world that nestles in the landscape and makes you feel at home immediately: books & magazines to read, binoculars on the table, prosecco in the fridge, delicious breakfast and interesting chat. Absolutely perfect. Thank you!

A real gem of a place. The guest house is a comfortable, spacious, home from home with the added bonus of a swimming pool. Sue is a charming and helpful host and having breakfast with her is a real treat. This is our third visit and we will be returning.

William, Altrincham

Sue is a wonderful hostess, we were made to feel very welcome. English Breakfasts in Sues charming dining room were excellent, and her travel adventures were most entertaining. The Guest House Accommodation was very comfortable, clean & tidy having the whole place to ourselves was lovely. The pool was an added bonus as was taking our dog and enjoying the lovely walks in the picturesque surrounding countryside. This is the best dog friendly accommodation we have stayed in so far & will definitely be going back.

Christine, Suffolk

There aren’t enough words to explain what a marvellous place The Guest House is. From the minute we drive through the gates we are welcomed so warmly by Sue and she looks after us so well that we leave feeling fully relaxed and happy but already planning when we can visit again - I think this has been our fifth visit! Sue provides the ‘full package ‘ and nothing is too much trouble for her. Waking up to the stunning views and the peace and quiet is well worth the long drive we have to make and having the use of the swimming pool is a real bonus even in the rain!

Judy, Lincolnshire

Sometimes my wife and I come across an unexpected gem unearthed by Sawdays. This property is like no other we have stayed in and has many classy features. In fact it is a detached complete house for two people. The heating system worked quickly and thoroughly and there are many books to read, plenty of magazines and almost as many soaps, squirts, and lotions - we could have tried one a day and not repeated ourselves in a week. We had lovely cooked breakfasts in the main house across the parking area and the hostess, Sue, is caring, thoughtful and a lively and interesting personality. A bonus!

Ken, Taunton

The beautiful barn to ourselves and the seclusion of the location was just what we needed! Sue and her delicious cooked breakfasts were an added bonus. If we can escape the children for another weekend away, we will definitely be booking again - in summer next time - so we can make the most of the pool.

Rachel, Dorking

Excellent hospitality in an idyllic location, the ideal accommodation for a restful and relaxing weekend break. Very highly recommended.

Stephen, Southsea, hampshire

The three days we spent here were a genuine get away from it all. Sue makes all the difference and is the reason we keep coming back. Highly reccomended.

William, Altrincham

This is the perfect place to completely relax and re-charge. So near to Cheltenham and Cirencester yet away from everything. This was our fourth visit to Bagendon, and it feels like going to see an old friend. Despite our intentions to spend time visiting the local area, we were again seduced by the tranquility of the accommodation and location and just relaxed by the pool. I recommend this to anyone who will listen, and we plan to visit again and again.

Helen, Banbury

Staying at Manor Cottage was a sheer delight. Sue was the most wonderful host and delightfully entertaining. We felt we made a lovely friend in Sue. The cottage was self contained and perfect for resting and taking the prettiest walks. Our breakfasts were home cooked delicious. Thank you so much Sue.

Rod, Loomberah

We are so looking forward to our fourth visit in August. It's almost impossible to put into words just how special The Guest House is. When I visit I feel like I am going home. Sue is the most wonderful person and nothing is too much trouble for her. Breakfast with Sue gets the day off to a great start, and we love the fact that she stays and chats with us while we eat. The Guest House itself has everything you need and is just so comfortable I just feel relaxed the minute I walk through the door. And the pool is a real bonus. Counting down the days now until we are back there again.

Judy, Lincolnshire

Wow! This is up there as one of the best places we have ever stayed - it was amazing! Why? Sue was just the best host ever (seriously we just loved her!), the gardens and surroundings we're beautiful and the cottage just had the most homely, warm feeling ever - it was just a lovely place to be. That coupled with a fantastic breakfast with great chat from Sue and Wiggy the lovely dog to keep George entertained just made this place an ideal and beautiful place to stay - we could easily live there! A fabulous place - you really have to go...even just to meet Sue! We loved it!

Emma

What a wonderful place. Susan is the perfect host and the cottage is a truly wonderful and relaxing place. Close to Cirencester and all it's facilities but set in the beautiful and relaxing Gloucestershire countryside. A wonderful place to stay and relax and the dogs and chickens are wonderful.
