Yew Tree Barn Holiday Cottage

Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire

A country retreat for two in the Cotswolds. Sink into plump sofas in front of the blazing wood-burner, sleep in a pretty beamed bedroom…

In the swish and unspoilt Cotswold village of Upper Slaughter, a stylish country bolthole for two with a sweet courtyard garden – breakfast out here on a wicker chair on sunny days. In a previous life this was the stables for the dairy farm, but the occupants have long gone. Now you’ll find stone floors with toasty underfloor heating, pale creams and greys, beautiful bed linen and a swanky TV. There’s an enduring farmhouse spirit however, from the Aga cooker with its bubbling warmth and Belfast sink in the light, contemporary kitchen to the wood-burner that takes centre-stage in the serene sitting room. Sink into impressively plump sofas in front of the crackling fire before retiring upstairs to sleep in the pretty beamed bedroom. Bathing in the elegant roll top bath is a pleasure. There’s a wonderful attention to detail throughout – fresh flowers, handmade chocolates and complimentary logs are thoughtful touches. Pack your wellies so that you can explore the glorious countryside in this postcard-perfect corner of the world or visit the beautiful neighbouring villages of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Serendipty! Yew Tree Barn just happened to be available when we needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights in the Cotswolds last week. It was the most perfect place for us to enjoy a couple of days of R + R. Sarah, it's owner who lives nearby, was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The pretty cottage is beautifully decorated and has many lovely home comforts - a luxurious clawfoot bath; fluffy bathrobes; and a log burner. Beautiful walks and villages are nearby. We would love to return!

This was our fourth visit to Yew Tree Barn. It’s one of our favourite places to go to when we take time off work and want to escape the world! Thank you again for another lovely stay.

Jennifer, Bristol

Yew Tree Barn is a delightful base for two from which to explore the beauties of the Cotswolds. It is exceptionally clean and beautifully appointed and provides perfectly snug accommodation. We would definitely recommend it!

Ian, Chislehurst

We have now stayed at Yew Tree Barn twice and have already booked to go back next year. The accommodation is excellent, very. clean and the furnishing is lovely. We can't fault anything.
