The
Experience

Arrive for Jan’s homemade cake and feel quite at home. Her relaxed, rustic house is full of natural tones, quirky pieces, candles and twinkling wood fires. Bedrooms brim with beamy character; there are four in the main barn, which has the odd steep stair and low bit. Breakfast is in the stunning living area – light streams in through big windows while you tuck into home-baked banana muffins, granola, berries, a full cooked spread. If you fancy independence, Cartshed is self-catering with doors opening onto a garden area with BBQ firepit. You’re in the heart of South Downs National Park; thriving Petersfield and heaps of good pubs are nearby.

Reviews

As an international photographer I spend lots of time on the road travelling for work, staying in b & b's wherever I go. Jan's Dunhill Barns is an absolute gem - quite the nicest place I've stayed in as long as I can remember. There's a wonderful calm and welcoming feeling to the barn which is beautifully designed. Breakfast was supreme. Highly highly recommend!

What. A. Find. Jan is so warm and so real, and her aesthetic is like something out of a storybook. Her taste is exquisite, and, oh, the breakfasts! It was a hard place to leave.

Absolutely gorgeous place, go visit! We had a delightful long weekend here, relaxing in the stunning barn open plan space (which we had to ourselves), the charming gardens, lounging by the pool, gorging ourselves on the outstanding breakfasts, going for walks on the Downs and availing ourselves of the various charming local country pubs. Jan is a perfect hostess who went out of her way to make us feel at home. We’d love to come back!

To say ths place is wonderful is damning with faint praise. Photographs don't do it justice. We were shown into the stunning barn with vaulted roof and a blazing fire in the enormous inglenook, huge squashy sofas and flickering candles. When Jan told us that this was our very own living room we were ecstatic! Super cosy beds with top quality linen. Jan is a wonderful, kind hostess - she went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after, from the delicious to home made cake to the best breakfasts we have ever encountered. We didn't want to leave and look forward to returning.

A truly beautiful place to stay, Jan is a wonderful host and we loved every minute of being there. A perfect place to unwind and escape the city.

Dunhill Barn is a magical place - beautiful open plan living space and bedrooms providing a tranquil cosy atmosphere ideal for families or groups of friends to enjoy. Jan was the perfect host along with her daughter. She went above and beyond making us feel very at home..she had even baked a cake for our arrival, and offered non-feather bedding for those with allergies. I would highly recommend Dunhill Barn not only for it's beautiful setting but also for the personal service Jan provides.

Dunhill Barn is absolutely stunning. We stayed here the night before and the night of my wedding with the bridesmaids and my family. Jan is the best host - so attentive and she really had thought of everything. She had cake ready when we arrived, and her breakfast was amazing. The barn has such character which made it an excellent location to have photos before we went to the wedding which was at the Tithe Barn in Petersfield. Could not recommend this place more, it's simply wonderful.

Such a fabulous and relaxing spot. We stayed in the Cartshed, and squeezed in my husband and I, plus two sons, with the help of an extra futon bed downstairs. Jan is wonderfully welcoming, and the Cartshed has all you need to be comfortable and cosy. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Jan is the warmest host with the most immaculate taste, having arrived after an outing at Peppa Pig World, our two young boys were made to feel right at home, borrowing toys and having special children's breakfasts. We stayed in the cartshed which offered the perfect balance of privacy when we wanted to eat as a family, breakfasts were the real highlight however in the main barn. For those looking for rustic and authentic style, we couldn't recommend more.

We stayed at Dunhillbarn this weekend as part of a wedding party-what an amazing place. The barn itself is beautiful, the breakfast was delicious and Jan was so hospitable. I thoroughly recommend staying here, we didn't want to leave! 10 stars from us!

What a beautiful find. If I could give it 6 stars I would. We stayed in the cart shed which was brimming with character and charm. Extremely comfortable beds with lovely pure linen bedding, sheepskin rugs on the floor, beams galore and cosy living area. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented, absolutely delicious setting us up for the day. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Dunhill Barn as part of a wedding party this weekend. What a beautiful place to stay, truly relaxing, absolutely stunning buildings and amazing hospitality! Breakfast by Jan was delicious, on par with a top hotel and served with smiles and extra care that you only get in such a personal setting. Highly recommended!

We arrived on a baking hot day after a long drive with two over heated young children and stressed parents. Within 2 minutes we had left all that behind. There's a glorious quality of peace in every corner of the space that Jan has created, and Jan herself has the knack of making you feel truly welcome and at ease. There's a feeling that life is better here - beautiful rooms, plenty of space, quiet and comfy corners to read a book or soak up the sun, grassy lawns to cartwheel across or just laze on. We loved being able to use the pool and were awestruck by the breakfast - everything perfect.

Jessica, London

Beautiful place to stay. Jan is so welcoming and was really helpful before and during our stay. We stayed in the cart shed and it was fantastic! I would thoroughly recommend. Thanks Jan!
