A magical village setting in the pretty Meon valley for this handsome stone Manor house behind high walls. Tina gives guests the stable block with its own sitting/kitchen area. Here oak floors, ceiling timbers and whitewashed brick walls give a rustic feel, but two comfy cerise-striped sofas and a flat-screen TV are bang up to date. Sleep deeply in glorious beds with crisp cotton sheets, breakfast heartily at one table in the sunny conservatory: homemade jams, eggs from Tina’s happy hens, local bacon, smoked salmon. Outside is an acre of walled garden, and a woodland area which is carpeted with bulbs: the annual show begins with helebores, snowdrops and aconites, followed by daffodils. Deep herbaceous borders are packed with colourful cottage garden favourites like delphiniums, sedums, geraniums and salvias; the rambling rose ‘American Pillar’ scrambles through shrubs and trees. Discover smooth lawns, a beech hedge leading to a secret ‘room’, box parterres, a veggie patch, and – more formally – a pond and a fountain. Sit for a while on one of the many benches and listen to the abundant birds or find a new aspect of the garden to admire.

Lovely self contained B&B. Friendly welcoming hosts, comfy beds and great breakfasts.

Graham, Norfolk

We stayed here in the African room for 2 nights whilst walking the South Downs way. Lovely ,cosy and warm the wood burner lit.bonas to have a sitting room and kitchette( no facilities for cooking) . Our bathroom was off the shared sitting room, dressing gowns provided together with big fluffy towels. Worked ok as other guests respected our privacy. Our host was very helpful and friendly, lovely choice of cooked breakfast. The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon set me up for the day. Quiet village setting with good pub within walking distance.
