The Experience

The magic begins as you drive past the farmhouse and across a sheep-grazed common high above the Wye. Then the roof of your cottage, a restored drover’s home, appears – to a backdrop of the distant Black Mountains. It’s a haven for wildlife. Farmer/owners Kesri and Paul ask only that you have a relaxed and carefree time whatever you choose to do. Join in down on the farm if you want: there are pizza and curry nights in the communal barn – a convivial space to be with its glowing fire, comfy sofas, a fully stocked honesty bar and lively banter – there are safari tents and another cottage for larger groups. Those who prefer a bit of privacy will be equally happy staying quietly in the cottage with its limewashed interiors, big open-plan living room and well-equipped kitchen. Beds are warmed by colourful Welsh blankets, bathrooms are spick and span, there is deep peace. If you’re feeling lazy you can even have hot breakfasts delivered. Enjoy home beef, lamb, chicken and eggs, all organic; barbecue a feast on the veranda and watch the sun set. Heaven for walkers, families (children can be truly free range) and foodies.

You know when you have found somewhere special when you are very sad to leave. Try the chilli beans they are amazing!! The cottage is perfect and has everything you need here waiting for you. Communal Nights have been such fun and are a must. The food is exceptional. Thank you all at Drovers you are so warm and welcoming. You make a perfect place even better. Amazing hospitality. Cant wait to be back.

Lovely, relaxing week amidst peace and tranquillity. Extremely helpful and friendly owners (including children and dog!) and the 'special supper evenings' were an unexpected bonus. Very comfortable cottage although a bedside light might have been good!
