The Experience

This cosy brick house stands in 15 acres of rhododendron’d garden, beech wood and orchard, and faces the river Wye: only wildlife breaks the silence. Kim has opened her family home and delights in sharing it. Easy-going charm pervades and quirk abounds: cigar boxes inlaid into one wall, murals in the hall, family photos and paintings dotted about, and stacks of books. A polished dining table and a lovely mismatch of utensils hang above the kitchen’s uneven flagstones. Watch the swirling river through a window over breakfast, listen to it rush past from the comfort of a squashy living room sofa; there’s a lovely wood-burner here, and a snug room at the back of the house. All but one of the sweet bedrooms have river views, all have good mattresses and blissful peace. For sluicing down, there’s a ground floor shower plus two more bathrooms above. Come for open space and peace… skim stones, spy otters, soak up the wonderful views. And you’re only a 15 minute walk from Hay-on-Wye.

Reviews

Simply the most idyllic spot, the position is unbeatable, we swam in the river, picnicked on its banks and watched the world go by. The house is charming and has everything you need. Could not recommend more highly!

We spent a magical weekend at Nethouse. It is pure bliss how isolated it is. Only the sound of the wildlife and the river can be heard. The location is hard to beat. It is a very special place. We sat in the garden watching the sun go down. The house is clean and charming. We will definitely be returning.

My daughters took me to Net House to celebrate my 60th birthday and we had the most fantastic weekend. The house is absolutely gorgeous and has everything a group could need. The river is totally magical, we walked to Hay, canoed down the Wye, ate good food, and the weather was amazing. Perfect!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for letting us stay in your amazing house on the river. We had such a wonderful weekend with glorious weather. My children (two girls) aged 9 and 12 were in heaven. We canoed, swam in the river, beautiful walks, explored the wonderful vintage shops in Hay on Waye and totally switched off from our busy lives in London. We will most definitely be returning! Net house has such a 'happy' vibe. We really did feel like the luckiest people in the town.

We are just home after a wonderful long weekend at the net house which was perfect. You have an absolutely exquisite spot there. The weather was wonderful, we even managed a bit of swimming. Thank you so much.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say what a fabulous weekend we had at Net House to celebrate my 60th! We were blown away by the location and couldn't believe our luck to have come across such an idyllic place. The weekend went all too quickly we wished we had longer but unfortunately work was calling on Monday morning. I feel certain we will return in the not too distant future though.

Josie

A wonderfully homely place in a stunning location! Stayed at Net House in May and enjoyed it so much as to return again in October with a different group of friends! The house is peaceful, secluded, and full of character. It was so lovely to wake up to the river views. Perfect for visiting Hay and the local area.
