The Experience

At the end of a leafy lane: lawns, paddocks, woods, no neighbours. A gravelled drive sweeps up to a Tudor farmhouse, then round to Hegdale Barn. Owner Victoria welcomes you in, to a charming converted brick barn dripping with honeysuckle, meticulously and sympathetically restored. The living space is airy, white and bright, with everything new including the floor, and restored windows and high beams add character. It’s perfect for a couple, or a family of four, thanks to a new sofabed, crisp and comfortable like all the rest. There is a built-in wardrobe in the bedroom, Romney Marsh lotions by the bath, and local treats in the welcome basket (cake and apple juice from Challock farm shop, eggs from the family’s eight hens). You can walk to Challock, it’s only a mile; there’s a pub there too, and gliding for the adventurous. You’re brilliantly placed for exploring coast and country: the Pilgrims Way is two miles; the Archbishops Palace is up the road; Leeds Castle is a hop away, Whitstable not much further. Come home to your own outdoor space: barbecue, dining table and arbour bench, all lovely and secluded.

Enjoyed a lovely stay in beautiful countryside. Amazing walks… beautiful old Kent pubs and 15 minutes we were at the beach. Accommodation was private, cozy and immaculate. Lovely break.

Beautiful cottage in a glorious location. Perfect getaway from it all but so lots of fabulous places to visit closeby too. Spotlessly clean and very well kitted out. Super friendly and helpful hosts. We will be back for sure.

Comfortable ,spacious ,and very well equipped Lovely rural location. Victoria was efficient, friendly and welcoming, then left us to our own devices which was what we like. Nice welcome pack of tea , bread and cake Would definitely stay here again

Hegdale Barn is in a wonderful location. It's very peaceful with a lovely private garden and lots of walks nearby. It's a great base within easy driving distance of many places to visit and also local pubs for good food. We thoroughly enjoyed a very comfortable week there and would love to return in the future.

What a wonderful place this is and so well curated by Victoria! It was salve for the Lockdown souls and our only holiday this year. The setting is idyllic and suggestions of walks and rambles through farms and woods were just what we needed. The place is all that is said here and a whole lot more. We hope to visit again and soon.

What a super find! Hegdale Barn is at the end of a tiny dead end country road, surrounded by fields. It was secluded and very peaceful. The photos don't really do the Barn justice - its really lovely (and it feels bigger than you expect). The bed is huge and the kitchen is well equipped. Absolutely perfect for couples and easy to get around Kent from here as you are very central. It is one of the few places that I would actually return to. Thank you Victoria.

We had a lovely stay at Hegdale Barn. We found it to be a delightful converted barn with all that we needed for a very comfy stay. We enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the pleasant walking round and about. Its near enough to walk to Challock across the paths and the owners have left very helpful maps and suggestions. The Barn was warm and cosy, lots of hot water, everything worked and it was spotless. To be recommended for a peaceful break. Harriet Mowat

Hello, Me and my husband will never forget our getaway at the Barn. We arrived on a Friday at 8, after a flight from Madrid. Victoria had organised a taxi to collection us from the airport. We arrived at sunset, and the beauty of the countryside, its silence and peace really touched us. The little house was welcoming, comfortable, practical and tasteful. The location is perfect – we left for London on one night, we explored Canterbury and we spent a day at the beach with oysters at marvellous Whitstable. Special mention to Victoria – attentive and so charming. We’ll no doubt be back!

Flavia, Madrid

The most beautifully appointed barn with so many historic houses, gardens and towns close by. The warmest of welcomes and the happiest of stays.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hegdale Barn. It's a beautiful cosy yet modern barn conversion with everything you need. We stayed with our 6 month old baby and the barn was ideal. The location is fantastic very rural and peaceful. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, We will be returning soon!

Emily, Great Ashfield

We had the most wonderful stay at Hegdale Barn in Challock! The barn is perfect - the bed and lounge are so comfortable and warm. The Barn has all that you would want including the little touches like amazing shower/bath, central heating, lovely kitchen, information on the local area & beautiful natural light. The barn is in a wonderfully secluded spot but has very easy access to the village & walking paths for strolls and longer rambles across the countryside to the numerous pubs for lunch and a tasty beverage! We highly recommend and look forward to staying again on our next visit to England

Helen, Sydney

Lovely cottage and location - the photos don't really do it justice!
