A great place to stay for groups of gardeners, walkers, beach lovers or sailors – you’re just a two-minute walk from a pebble beach, St Margaret’s Bay, for paddleboarding and picnics. There’s a pub here too, The Coastguard, the closest one to France in the UK! There are a number of places to eat in the village, a ten-minute walk, plus post office and food shops.
The large living room is really light, more like a conservatory, with sunshine pouring in, a door to a balcony and a big table for eating outdoors. You’re facing six acres of garden, devoted to conservation and permaculture, with a pond, maze and veg garden, and when the visitors have gone home it’s all yours. Enjoy brunch, lunch or a cream tea in the tea shop next door and you can pre-order home cooked meals to be waiting for you.
It’s plain, but there are some lovely works of original art and the beds have thick mattresses and good cotton sheets.
