Ramsden Farm Cottage

A lovely hideaway with a cow-print chaise longue, modern paintings, funky bar stools, a sunny courtyard garden and good pubs nearby

3 bedrooms

Sleeps 6

Tucked behind the farmhouse is the old milking parlour, which Sally has converted using reclaimed materials to create a quirky hideaway. Find beautiful oak and cherrywood floors, white walls and vivacious touches, such as a black-and-white cow-print chaise longue. The living area is open and light with lovely standing timbers, comfy red sofas and a wood-burner; the kitchen is big but cosy, with rich red walls and cream cupboards. A stack of cookery books invites creativity; funky breakfast bar stools catch the eye. The downstairs bedroom has twin French walnut beds; upstairs, past the day bed on the landing, are two more bedrooms under the eaves. Upstairs’ bathroom has a free-standing Victorian bath tub; downstairs is a wet room. You have a large brick and cobble terrace garden that faces south; eat out on sunny days and take in long Wield views. Nearby are castles, gardens, great country houses, vineyards, cider makers and three excellent pubs – one a mile’s stroll from the door – and the coast is half an hour: Fairlight cliffs and Hastings are well worth a trip.

This is a truly lovely, rustic country cottage. I booked so that together with my adult daughters we had a base to attend a nearby wedding. Some friends stayed earlier in the week and a local Alexander technique teacher gave us a workshop. The main living area is a generous size so 5 of us (including the teacher) could work on the floor.Eating together was easy to organise in a well designed kitchen/dining area with equipment that includes a Magimix food processor.Beds are comfortable and have the prettiest linen.Responsive heating worked quickly one cool evening. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely time at Ramadan Farm Cottage. We are a family of four and stayed for a week together with our parents in law in the cottage. The interior and kitchen are very nice and up to date. For evenings there is also the possibility to make it cosy using the fireplace. If you like walking, you are in luck because the the landscape surrounding the cottage is beautiful. All in all we recommend the place.

We had a lovely stay at Ramsden Farm Cottage with our three young children. There was ample space for all of us. A great kitchen space, lounge and bathrooms too. The setting is idyllic, quiet, safe and the children enjoyed watching the lambs in the nearby field. It was an excellent base to enjoy Rye, Hastings, Camber Sands and nearby Sissinghurst. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Visiting Kent for an epic three day wedding celebration, the Cottage was a real home from home for all of us. The peace and quiet were a wonderful counterbalance to the celebrations. Despite being a floating population of about nine (not all staying at the cottage), we all managed to find quiet places and noisier places for the catchups and conversations of old friends. Those of us staying also managed to fit showers and baths and frock up fabulously day after day... Buses and taxis meant the rest of the week with no car was also enjoyable, visiting Dixter and Cranbrook, pub dinners etc etc

Stunning property in a peaceful location. Sally was very welcoming, provided us with a map for the local area and running routes! We were left to ourselves, which was what we wanted. We had lovely fresh flowers on arrival. Well equipped and good quality kitchen facilities. Loved the wet room. Main bedroom has lovely views across fields. Bed was very comfy, although the room has restricted head hight in places it still felt spacious and quirky. The weather was warm, we opened the windows and had the perfect treat of listening to the dawn chorus every morning. Lovely south facing open courtyard.
