Passing cars are less frequent than passing horses – this is a peaceful spot in a pretty village. Lyn and Richard’s 17th-century cottage has a feeling of lightness and space; there’s a fine collection of paintings and furniture, and oak doors lead from dining room to guest sitting room. Country style bedrooms have green views and are simply done. The garden layout was designed by Bunny Guinness, you can bring your horse (there’s plenty of stabling) and it’s a stroll to a good pub dinner. The house is filled with laughter, breakfasts with home-grown fruits are tasty and the Cowdells are terrific hosts who love having guests to stay.
