The Experience

You’ll feel very much at home here – Vicky and Edmund are old hands at B&B and welcome you warmly. If you’re staying in either of the Studios you’ll be left a breakfast hamper, or if you’re in the Pink Room, it will be served in the pretty conservatory/dining room: fresh croissants on request, good bread, homemade jam and marmalade. Bedrooms are fresh and light with well-dressed beds, lots of books, antique furniture and interesting art and photos.

It feels remarkably quiet in the house but you’re just a short walk from the bustle of Hammersmith Broadway for shopping, restaurants, cinema and tube station. The West End is just half an hour on the tube.

Rafa the friendly terrier will be padding about and Vicky and Edmund are fantastic sources of information about what to do and where to go, either locally or further afield. Museums, galleries, the Thames and plenty of leafy parks are in walking distance. A very special place to stay in every sense.

Reviews

Fabulous location with wonderful hosts. Edmund & Vicky could not have been more welcoming & made our stay very special.

Lisa-Ann, Dublin

I have just returned from a wonderful two night stay in the Pink Room. The location is excellent being on a direct tube line from Heathrow and convenient for travelling to galleries etc. Vicky and Edmund are wonderful hosts, they are welcoming, friendly and helpful. They accommodated my late arrival and were flexible on the morning I was leaving. Breakfast is superb with fresh croissants, artisan bread and home made marmalade. The room is comfortable, bathroom is clean with lots of hot water. A treasure I will return to on my next trip.

Annette, Glasgow

A lovely quiet place to stay and we return time and time again as everything is just perfect.

Sue and Ian, Mirande, SW France

Thanks to Edmund and Vicky for a short but sweet stay! We were in the Upper and Lower Studios which were great spaces, both for sleeping and enjoying breakfast. The homemade jams and marmalades along with the morning delivery of fresh croissants and bread were very welcome.

Sally, Bristol

We stayed in the lower studio. We found it had all that we needed, and breakfast was included - cereals, milk, honey, jam and butter, plus the croissants supplied by the owner. The bed was comfortable, although the duvet was very thin, and we could have done with a thicker one, especially as it was quite a cold weekend. It was a very quiet residential street, but close to the tube station. Ideal for our busy weekend in London.

Helen, Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, Devon

My daughter and I stayed in the Upper studio for 10 days and we loved it. A lovely apartment, very clean and we had everything we needed. Vicky went out of her way to buy us gf breakfast items. Vicky and Edmund were lovely and always willing to help with anything. We stayed in winter, the apartment was always warm. We loved the big bath. It was always lovely to come back after a long day of walking. Easy walk from the station and a very easy train ride from Heathrow. We are staying again in June and have already recommended this place to others.

Kirsti, Sydney

Very welcoming and great, clean rooms - very entertaining people - and a great dog!

Marie & Ian, Vienna

What a wonderful place to stay. I was in Rowan Road for three nights, while visiting family in London. Vicky and Edmund were such kind and interesting hosts, I felt completely at home. The atmosphere there is so relaxing and comfortable, with lots of interesting things everywhere, beautifully arranged, great colours, plenty of books, a really well loved home. Thank you both so much!

Veronique, Sawday's Inspector

What a fantastic location - a 5-minute walk from Hammersmith station, but tucked away down a quiet road that hardly feels like central London. The Lower Studio is spacious and modern, with its own entrance, kitchen area and living space. A great base for exploring the city.

Antonica, Weston-super-Mare

Our second stay and always very comfortable and friendly. Brilliantly close to Olympia and surrounds. Thank you for another excellent stay. We'll be back again next year.

Karen, Dorchester

Central location, but quiet and peaceful. Warm welcome. Stayed on the top floor which had comfortable beds and seating area overlooking Hammersmith skyline. Varied breakfast choices. All in all, delightful experience.

Claire, London

We often stay at Rowan Road and find it perfectly located with good transport links into central London. Edmund and Vicky are convivial hosts and the bedrooms are comfortable

mel, MARLBOROUGH

Dear Vicky, thanks for leaving the invoice and indeed, for allowing us access to the house on our last day to leave the cases etc. It proved invaluable and Danny was able to make one final use of the excellent playground nearby before we caught our long night train back to Cornwall. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Having Rowan Road as "our pad" to return to at the end of each full day was the cherry on the cake of a memorable and joyous Spring break. Your comfortable home and generous hospitality were very much appreciated by both of us - the croissants in the morning, a real treat.

Sarah, Cornwall

Excellent stay. Quiet location, easy access to public transportation. Excellent hospitality. We have really enjoyed. I warmly recommend it.

Lorenzo, San Donato Milanese

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at 31 Rowan Road. The accommodation was perfect with extremely comfortable beds and great views from the studio apartment. The bathroom was spacious with a very luxurious bath. Breakfast was excellent with fresh croissants waiting for us by the studio door every morning and the porridge was perfect. The location is ideal for visiting central London and it was lovely to come back each evening to the studio and relax after a busy day. Our hosts were most genial, hospitable and kind. Thank you Vicky and Edmund for a much enjoyed week.

Jim and Nancy, Halifax West Yorkshire

The whole family loved our stay with Vicky & Edmund. Delightfully peaceful in central London, and excellent value too!

gwen, Bristol

We spent two nights with Vicky and Edmund and we had an amazing time. We had the top suite which was perfect for our needs. The room was excellent, comfortable and well appointed. We had breakfast in our room. Having use of the room during the day fitted perfectly with our plans. We will certainly stay again when visiting London.

Mary, Cazalrenoux

My friend and I stayed with Vicky and Edmund for a week. We have had a lovely week: the weather was awful, but the feeling we had a home in London made well up for that.

Location

The neighbourhood

Brook Green is a leafy, quiet area of London but it's a fantastic base for exploring as it borders Kensington, Holland Park, Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith and Brackenbury Village. You won't need a car as tubes and buses are plentiful and there is much within walking distance.

Local points of interest from Vicky & Edmund Sixsmith

  • Good transport links - Hammersmith Tube and Bus Station less than 5 minute walk; Heathrow and Gatwick Airports easily accessible; excellent roadlinks with M3, M4 and M40 particularly.
  • Eating - the area is bursting full of restaurants, pubs and gastro pubs of all nationalities and catering for all pockets including Sam's Brasserie, The Dove, a tiny 17th century pub steeped in history serving excellent food and other riverside pubs
  • Entertainment - Hammersmith Apollo, The Lyric Theatre, Shepherds Bush Theatre, Cinemas are all close by and Piccadilly Circus and the West End theatres a half hour tube journey away.
  • Parks etc - Kew Gardens, Richmond Park, Holland Park, Kensington Park, Wetlands Centre are all close by and of course riverside walks too. Many museums are near by including Design Museum, V&A, Science and Natural HIstory
  • Olympia Exhibition Centre is a 7 minute walk and Westfield Shopping Centre and High Street Kensington are very close for retail therapy!
  • Although Rowan Road and Brook Green is a leafy, quiet residential area, busy Hammersmith Broadway convenient for all your shopping, socialising and transport needs, is just round the corner.

Introducing

Vicky & Edmund Sixsmith

Vicky and Edmund thought about doing B&B many years ago. With a large house and just one child, as well as being very sociable themselves they launched themselves into opening their doors to guests and they've never looked back. Edmund runs his own School of Bridge on Tuesday evenings in the winter.
