On a quiet leafy street, the Haworths have brought country-house chic to South London. Philip and Winkle have filled their elegant Victorian townhouse with attractive fabrics, sunny colours and treasures from far-flung travels. The house glows, the garden is ravishing with parterre, arbour, brimming borders and secluded seats. Breakfasts are delicious and bedrooms are spacious: fine linen, lambswool throws, waffle robes, the scent of roses. Few people do things with as much natural good humour as Winkle, whose passions are cooking, gardening and garden history. Transport is close and you can be in Victoria in 15 minutes.
