The Experience

This pretty Victorian pied-à-terre, its wisteria arching a bright red door, makes a peaceful London retreat. Your space is a contemporary basement studio flat that comes with its own private door, an outside iron staircase and a tiny wisteria-filled patio. The kitchen/diner draws the eye, with light spilling down from glass bricks above and plenty of space in which to cook (a plus if you plan to entertain friends). Polished wooden floors stretch the length and breadth of the space; crisp white walls are offset with chrome lights and large framed sketches in modernist style – credit to the talent of Vicky’s son. Spotlights star the corniced ceiling brightening the living area and its bamboo-weave rugs, behind the sofabed is a super-sized bed (twin or zipped-up double), and the super shower room has exposed bricks, sea-green tiles and a drenching shower. You can stroll, shop, eat on nearby King Street, and book tickets for the Hammersmith Apollo or the Lyric. Good humoured Vicky lives upstairs and will pop a daily continental breakfast into your fridge.

We've come for a week's stay with our two teen daughters to have them discover and enjoy London for the first time. We stayed at Vicky and Edmund's place on Rowan Road and we've much appreciated everything of it. Vicky and Edmund are very pleasant and helpful people. The loft was plenty of space and facilities for a family of four. The place is ideally located on a calm street but near shops, buses and metro lines and central London was only at 30-40 min away. We highly recommend it and we hope to come again!!

Highly recommend: absolutely wonderful stay with Vicky and Edmond, we have now stayed with them 3 times as it is such a convenience location and great hospitality. The flat is well equipped, comfortable and very clean... and a lovely breakfast.

Stephanie, London

Fantastic place, lovely room at the top of the house, quiet location but just a hop, skip and a job to the main road and the underground. Has safe parking on-site. Excellent and would highly recommend.

  • Good transport links - Hammersmith Tube and Bus Station less than 5 minute walk; Heathrow and Gatwick Airports easily accessible; excellent roadlinks with M3, M4 and M40 particularly.
  • Eating - the area is bursting full of restaurants, pubs and gastro pubs of all nationalities and catering for all pockets including The River Cafe, The Dove, a tiny 17th century pub steeped in history serving excellent food and other riverside pubs.
  • Entertainment - Hammersmith Apollo, The Lyric Theatre, Shepherds Bush Theatre, Cinemas are all close by and Piccadilly Circus and the West End theatres a half hour tube journey away.
  • Parks etc - Kew Gardens, Richmond Park, Holland Park, Kensington Park, Wetlands Centre are all close by and of course riverside walks too.
  • Olympia Exhibition Centre is a 7 minute walk. Westfield Shopping Centre and High Street Kensington are close by. The recently relocated Design Museum, Albert Hall, V&A, Science Museum and Natural History Museums are all near by.
