The
Experience
In the grounds of Hindringham Hall is a long brick and flint barn with a red-tiled roof and pretty paintwork, and a bridlepath running past. It was converted after the war for herdsman Mr Docking, who lived here with his bride. Step in. Now lovely new oak floorboards (top-notch for dogs) add charm, there’s a traditional sitting room with Freeview and wifi, a neat airy kitchen opening to the garden and, at either end, a comfortable carpeted bedroom (not for dogs) with sweet little windows and a bathroom apiece. What’s great is that the garden is enclosed so young children are as safe as the pooches, and there’s solid oak furniture on the lawn. Outside the door: Hindringham Hall’s gorgeous borders, its wild garden, water garden, kitchen garden, 12th-century moat and medieval pond; all this open to guests on Wednesdays and Sunday afternoons throughout the summer. The coast is close, and dogs will go mad for the wide sands of Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea, and the enticing aromas of Stiffley Marshes. Don’t miss the six villages called the Burnhams, the best-known being Burnham Market – ‘Chelsea on Sea.’

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Edward & Vanessa Tucker
- In rural Norfolk yet perfectly situated to access the beautiful North Norfolk beaches. Miles of sand at Holkham or salt marsh at Morston with its harbour for sailing boats, whilst stoney Cley is perfect for swimming with its clear deep water.
- This premier 4* Gold Cottage is perfect for dog lovers with its fenced garden and next to a bridlepath with easy access to walks around the village. By car the dog friendly beaches of Morston and Wells are just 10 mins away. More than 1 dog? Not a problem.
- For shopping Burnham Market has all you could want....and more, the Georgian Market Town of Holt is just 7 miles away. Fakenham has a market every Thursday and the lovely harbour town of Wells still has a lifeboat and is not to be missed.
- Wet days? Try the Steam museum at Thursford or there are 5 Stately homes within a 30 min drive. Catch the Steam Trains from Holt to Sheringham or Walsingham to Wells. Cromer has the last End of the Pier show in the UK.
- Fantastic restaurants and pubs galore with locally caught sea food, meat reared by the butcher and fresh local fruit and vegetables. Two excellent farm shops are within 5 minutes drive of the cottage.
- Bird reserves (Titchwell, Cley and Pensthope) and Gardens to visit include Hindringham Hall next door which was in the May 2015 Guardian Newspaper as one of the Best 12 secret gardens in the U.K.
