The Experience

This whitewashed cottage sits by the green in Wells-next-the-Sea within walking distance of the sea, a nice local pub and all the town has to offer.

Find a welcome hamper with treats: eat together around the dining table leading off the spacious kitchen, or spill out onto the sunny courtyard garden with its sunbeds, table and chairs. There’s plenty of room to spread out, including a sitting room with a wood-burner and a cosy kids’ den with beanbags, a TV and plenty of games and DVDs.

Wander down to the quay for walks or crabbing, or a mile to Holkham beach. Hire a bike and explore this lovely part of the North Norfolk coast or take a boat trip from Blakeney Point to see the birds and seals.

What a comfy, stylish place for a family holiday or a trip to the sea with friends. Easy living inside and there is so much to do both within walking distance and around about - stay at least a week!

Location

The neighbourhood

Wells-next-the-Sea is ideal for an action-packed holiday – the Wells Maltings development has theatre, music, comedy and cinema, and Pinewoods Park has a lake, rope swings, a miniature railway and a café. For day trips, Holkham Hall country house is three miles away and Pensthorpe Natural Park, which featured in BBC Springwatch, is 11 miles away. Good places to eat in town include The Crown, Wells Crab House, The Golden Fleece and Season.

Local points of interest from The Team at The Globe Inn at Wells

  • We love the rich and colourful history of Wells-next-the-Sea and the best way to discover it is by taking a Walking History Tour. See the grand merchants' houses with their smuggling tunnels and the fishermen's cottages with creel-stacked yards.
  • Cley Marshes, Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s oldest & best known nature reserve is held 'in perpetuity as a bird breeding sanctuary', the shingle beach, saline lagoons, marsh & reedbeds support large numbers of wintering and migrating wildfowl & waders.
  • You'll find a 'Crabbing Kit' in the house, you can have endless hours of free fun crabbing on the Quay. Our two loved it and the best bait is a stinky fish head! Watch the catch come in at high tide - whelks, crab & lobster depending on the time of year.
  • The Norfolk Coast Path and Peddars Way National Trails are such glorious walks. We have the added advantage of being really close to the CoastHopper bus stop. So after a hard day's walking it's only a few steps home to a well earned cup of tea!
  • Visit the splendour of the paladian Holkham Hall on the magnificent neighbouring Holkham Estate. Take in the beauty of the 5 different breeds of deer, the beautiful lake, the ice house, the Victorian nursery gardens and a cream tea treat afterwards.

Introducing

Antonia and Stephen are originally from Southwold, where they ran a successful business. They lived at Spicers, their Georgian cottage, while restoring The Globe Inn, and now enjoy welcoming guests to both – and cycling when they have the chance.
