The view here is matchless, a clean sweep across the salt marshes up to Blakeney Point. The estuary passes five paces from the front door and you can watch the boats slide by from a sun-trapping terrace, a convivial bar, a stylish restaurant and a beautiful first-floor sitting room that comes with binoculars to follow the local wildlife. Bedrooms have a contemporary country-house style: chic fabrics, cool colours, antique furniture, white linen on beautiful beds, sparkling bathrooms with posh oils. Many have views to the front, a couple have balconies, too. Elsewhere, you’ll find three open fires, a bar for light lunches and local ales, an elegant drawing room where you can play Scrabble, read the papers, or dig into afternoon tea. There’s an indoor pool with a gym, a steam room and a sauna, then glass doors onto the garden; you’ll also find a games’ room for children. Outside, paths lead down to the marshes, there are seals to spot, birds to watch, links golf at Sheringham and Cromer, a point to point at Fakenham. Sandringham is close, too. Dogs and children are very welcome.
