The
Experience
Conservation farmland all around; acres of wild heathland busy with woodpeckers and owls; the coast two miles away. Relax in the big drawing room of this 17th-century rectory and friendly family home, set in mature gardens full of trees. Fiona loves to cook and bakes her bread daily; food is delicious, seasonal and locally sourced, jams are homemade. Comfortable bedrooms have objets from diplomatic postings and the suite comes with mahogany furniture and armchairs so you can settle in with a book. Super views, friendly dogs, tennis in the garden and masses of space. If you fancy self-catering then opt for an independent break in the Garden Room.

We stayed in the Garden Room for five nights and were comfortable. We received a welcome on our arrival, and were given fresh bread, marmalade and eggs. The accommodation was warm and the wood burner was excellent. Any issues were dealt attentively. Our only reservation was the rule 'dog on lead in the garden', but then we do have a very patient Springer Spaniel who is rarely on a lead! The heathland and woods nearby are an absolute delight.

A lovely home in an enticing, informal garden. Extremely comfortable, generously proportioned room with both sleeping and relaxing areas and lots of homely touches such as snowdrops, hot water bottles and flapjack. Delicious breakfasts including lots of homemade treats and local produce. And all this with a very friendly welcome and nothing too much trouble during our stay. We will return!

We stayed for a few days self catering in the Garden Cottage. We really enjoyed our stay - excellent environment for us and our Labrador Toby. Were really well looked after - homemeade bread biscuits and free range eggs provided by very welcoming owners. We highly recommend the location and comfortable accomodation.

25/04/2016 We will definitely add the Old Rectory to our list of favourites and would recommend it. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Fiona's warm welcome (with delicious homemade cookies) added to the special feel of the place. As for the breakfasts: homemade breads, jams, muesli and smoothies, delicious local produce, perfection!

Fiona is a gem - and her food is delicious and fresh and much of it home grown - bread home made and cinnamon rolls scrummy. A very relaxed, welcoming stay and Fiona is a font of local information and advice - particularly well recommended places to eat & unusual sites. Room was relaxed and comfortable with all modern conveniences - I would definitely re-visit and if in the are I would not stay anywhere else.
