Chillingham Manor

Another wonderful stay our third stay this year Spring Summer and Autumn each one very different experiences in the area but still a very warm welcome from Mhairi I’m sure we will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at Chillingham Manor. Mhairi is such an attentive host, fabulous breakfast and really cosy accommodation. Roaring fires in the drawing and sitting rooms welcomed us and these rooms are solely for the guest’s use! Perfect location to explore beautiful Northumberland and no shortage of suggestions and recommendations from Mhairi. We hope to return soon.

Fantastic. A wonderful country house decorated impeccably with lovely furniture. A lovely large bedroom, huge comfy bed, huge bath piping hot water, two sitting rooms (for guests use only!) with log fires, again a guest use wonderful dining room (for breakfast) again with log fire, the breakfast was superb. Hostess is wonderful welcoming informative attentive, lives in the adjoining (almost separate) wing and allows you complete privacy to the main house. Better than any boutique hotel plus a brilliant location, 5 star.

A very beautiful and homely house. Tea and cake welcomed us….Crackling log fires, beautifully eclectic interiors, spacious bedrooms and delicious breakfasts. Books, paintings and comfortable sofas to enjoy too. Mhairi and Ed are perfect hosts, warm and very entertaining.

You can be certain of a warm welcome from Mhairi who provides hospitality to a very high standard. A beautiful house with comfy sofas and roaring log fires, even for breakfast. Breakfasts and evening meals were to die for. One of our party of four is a vegetarian; Mhairi rose to the occasion with imaginative, wholesome and tasty dishes. We look forward to returning.

Chillingham Manor is one of those places that you arrive at and instantly feel at home. Mhairi and Ed have curated their stylish home to be an absolute gem of a place. Mhairi is an exceptionally talented hostess and a mine of local information, she takes the time to understand and recommend activities that are most likely to suit you - for us it was the Castle just over the lane and the tour to see the Wild Cows of Chillingham, both well worth a visit. The beds were supremely comfortable and everything you needed was on hand. A 5*hidden gem - I thoroughly recommend booking.

Superb! Such a lovely welcoming place to stay - open fires, comfy beds, lots of space. We were 3 couples - all old friends - enjoying our first trip to Northumberland and were so well looked after by Mhairi. A country house party with delicious dinner and huge choice of breakfast options - all cooked by our talented hostess. And so much to explore - the ideal location. We can't wait to return! Sawdays at its best.

An elegant and charming house with every detail considered. Generous hospitality freely given along with advice on where to go and what to see, and places that other tourists don't know about. Mhairi is an excellent cook and a warm and welcoming host. Log fires welcome you back after a day's walking in the hills, or visiting deserted beaches. Don't hesitate to stay here: it has a comfort rarely seen. We cannot praise it highly enough. A five star hotel masquerading as a B&B!

First time in Northumberland and we could not have picked a better place to stay Mnairi was the perfect host and very knowledgeable about the area the room was huge and we had full use of the lounges when we returned from a day out The breakfast choice was superb and everything was freshly prepared We will certainly look at returning to explore more of this lovely area.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Chillingham Manor - Mhairi made us feel at home right from the start. Not only was our bedroom comfortable and spacious, but we were encouraged to relax in the drawing room, with a lovely log fire, whenever we wanted. The breakfasts were truly delicious - a reason in itself to return! Chillingham is in such a fabulous area - so close to the coast and in the heart of beautiful countryside - a definite recommend.

Wow - what a beautiful place to stay! Everything from the really warm welcome, to the rooms, the bathroom, the food, the general ambience of the house - I couldn't have asked for a better nights sleep. Mhairi & Ed run a really slick operation & they couldn't have been friendlier but at the same time, leaving us to enjoy our time staying with them. The bed was so comfortable & there was oodles of hot water with White Company toiletries. Food delicious with lots of choices & there was a basket in the hall to help ourselves to apples - perhaps from their walled garden? Stunning countryside too!

Chillingham Manor is a great place to stay. The location is peaceful and the house itself is a beautiful building with a lovely homely feel. Mhairi is a wonderful host: we were greeted with tea and homemade cake - always welcome after a long drive - and urged to kick our shoes off and relax. The bedroom was spacious and beautifully furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom luxurious. Everything was spotlessly clean too. Breakfasts were generous and delicious, with no restrictions on time! All in all a perfect weekend - we definitely hope to be back soon.

Exceptionally comfortable, well-managed B&B. Managed with genuine taste and commitment to hospitality. Generous breakfasts, very well appointed rooms, hostess full of very helpful local advice.

'B&B' doesn't do Chillingham Manor justice; it is simply too unique - THE place to stay in the area. If you plan to travel to Northumberland, let alone Chillingham; you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not considering the Manor as your place to stay. The hospitality is genuine and 'real' (I know what I mean); the rooms are perfect and etched with character; and you have access to so much more than your own four walls. And don't get me started on the breakfast. In fact, do! Best Full English I've had - and I've had more than my fair share! I'm approaching word limit! Can't wait to go back!

A lovely stay, we felt more like family guests than staying in a B+B, beautiful house and very comfortable room. We were very well looked after

The perfect place to stay either on your own or with friends. Mhair and Ed are the perfect hosts, welcoming, hospitable, friendly, but never intrusive. Although the weather was wet and cold, the house was warm with fires in the dining room, morning room and drawing room, nowhere better to curl up on the comfortable sofas with a book. The spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds with crisp white linen, fluffy large white towels in luxurious en suite bathrooms equipped not only with a big bath but good pressure in the walk in showers ensure that there is nothing else you need to feel pampered.

What a wonderful welcome we got to this warm and friendly home, despite arriving 3 hours late. Mhairi the host immediately showed us to our rooms and after a good bounce on the beds we were installed in front of the open fire for a relaxing evening of banter. I slept like a log and the following morning had a soak in a wonderful big bath for longer than i can remember since having kids! The breakfast is to die for, so much choice and so generous, it was such a treat that I just couldn’t decide what to have, it all looked so good, I would need to stay a week to try it all, if only. It’s heaven

An absolutely perfect place to stay to explore Northumberland. We received a very friendly welcome on arrival from Mhairi, who looked after us well throughout our stay. The Manor is a very special place with its beautifully proportioned and spacious rooms, log fires, beautiful furniture, art works and interesting books. Our room was warm and comfortable with lovely views over the garden and the trees beyond. We enjoyed the hearty and tasty breakfasts at the long table in the dining room in front of a log fire and watching the local deer go past. Everything was clean and spotless.

We could not have been made more welcome and spent a wonderful two days in this incredibly lovely home. We went to Alnwick one day and Lindisfarne the next and wished we had more time to explore everything else Northumberland has to offer. In the evenings it was gorgeous to come back to the lovely drawing room at the manor and chat in front of a real fire. I urge to come an visit and chill out for a few days. Mhairi and Ed have created a lovely and relaxing place to stay.

We stayed at Chillingham Manor whilst walking St Cuthbert's Way. What a wonderful place rest, relax and re-charge. A deep bath with plentiful hot water, a fire to curl up in front of with a book, a very comfy bed and a really delicious breakfast with plentiful coffee. Mhairi and Ed were incredibly kind and welcoming. Lots to do just on the doorstep. Perfect!
