Claire and ex-chef Simon have converted the old Belford post office with flair. The red pillar box is still in use, jaunty stamp fabrics and post box blinds give you colourful reminders, and the wood-burning stove in the dining room keeps it all cosy. Bedrooms have robes, comfy chairs, brimming trays and espresso machines; morning sun in one, evening rays in the other. Breakfast at one convivial table is a local and home-baked spread: Bamburgh bacon and sausages, Craster kippers, homemade baked beans and marmalade. Pretty garden and heaps to do nearby: unspoilt Northumbrian beaches, Farne Islands, castles, brilliant walks.
