The
Experience

Dream up an occasion and head for Rennington House! A classic Georgian farmhouse, it’s smart, in a family-friendly way with green views, in an acre of lawned garden, three minutes’ walk from the excellent village pub, four miles from handsome Alnwick and close to vast sandy stretches of Northumbrian coast. Great for bird watching and castle visiting, this is golfing and field sports country too. You can have a couple of dogs indoors and hire or stable your own horses. Everything here, from boot room to bedroom, has been well thought through; centrally heated and double-glazed. The kitchen lacks nothing – there’s a family/games room off it – you can all eat there or in the dining room with its hunting prints and piano. Any amount of catering can be arranged and, if you’ve something big to celebrate, the beamed barn (with trampoline and table tennis) transforms into a party room at the drop of a hat or two. You’ve a big, light, relaxing sitting room with open fire; the four first-floor bedrooms share the big bathroom; the other two (up a fairly steep stair), a good shower room. All very comfortable and welcoming.

Reviews

Thank you very much for a really lovely stay. We had a great time and the weather was fab. We thought the scones and quiche was a lovely touch and really enjoyed them and also appreciated you getting the hot water fixed so quickly. You have a really lovely property, very relaxing. Rennington is a gorgeous village and all the people so friendly especially Mark and Peg at the pub. We are originally from the NE and had forgotten how friendly everyone is up here.

We had a wonderful stay at Rennington House, perfect for the 10 of us - 3 generations. The house is spacious and accommodated us all brilliantly for the week. It was really well equipped, clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The grounds and barn were wonderful; we enjoyed a BBQ, lots of games outside, table tennis, pool and darts. A brilliant location with a super pub a couple of minutes away and perfectly located to visit all Northumberland has to offer. The home baking on arrival was very welcome. We had such a happy week and would really recommend it for large family get togethers.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Sarah & Stuart Lang

  • Rennington House was owned by the Duke of Northumberland for his tenant farmers and is surrounded by his famous wild grey partridge shoot and Percy Hunt country.
  • The party barn has a table tennis table, trampoline, swingball, short tennis, snooker and dart board and lovely twinkly fairy lights for fun nights. Perfect for keeping the children busy on rainy days.
  • The vegetable patch and orchard will have seasonal goodies for guests to try courtesy of John Holmes our lovely gardner.
  • The harbours of Craster, Beadnell and Amble are nearby and boat trips to the Farne Islands leave from Seashouses, also famous for it's fish and chips
  • Alnwick, Bamburgh, Chillingham, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh.....all nearby castles which saw many Border Reiver battles and are rich with the regions history and some more recent Harry Potter and Downton Abbey action.
  • Local chefs can prepare meals and celebration dinners on request.
