The Experience

Choose from three suites neatly converted from an old stable and tack room by David and a local builder. Each has their own entrance, comfortable seating, furniture made of reclaimed wood by Stuart Orrey, handmade pillow top mattresses and garden views. Ask for a cream tea on arrival, or homemade cake (Kelly is renowned for her fruit cake).

You take breakfast in the house, either at a gothic table in the dining room with a roaring fire in winter, or on the terrace in the sunshine. All is locally-sourced or homemade, including bread, jams, fruit compotes from the garden, sausages from the local butcher and eggs from their hens when they’re laying. With notice you can also have a home cooked supper or a packed lunch. Play croquet or boules, ask to cross a meadow to the wood with a glade and a firepit, or simply sit and read a book under a parasol.

Stroll down to pretty Kilvington Lakes for birdwatching, fishing or a picnic.

Reviews

From the moment we arrived it was clear this is a very special place. We received a very warm welcome from David and Kelly. The accommodation is tastefully furnished and immaculate and the location very peaceful. Breakfast in the house was so tasty, with locally sourced produce. We wished we were staying more than one night and we look forward to coming back another day!

N, Nottingham

Exceptionally high quality b&b with all the wonderful little touches that really make your stay so special. Wonderful accommodation and hosts. We can’t wait to stay again soon and have already recommended it to others!

Leanne, Billericay

Excellent hosts. Brilliant place to stay, relaxing and welcoming. The rooms were fabulous with everything high end. Lovely extra touches like homemade scones on arrival and the breakfast was great with lots of home made produce. There was two nice pubs nearby which served good quality food. We were made so welcome we will definitely return.

Wayne, Northwich

Offering excellent, very comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings (as long as you don't object to the sounds of the resident animals and visiting wildlife), and a superb breakfast with lots of home grown and freshly baked tasty treats which are all served up by the welcoming hosts.

Nicholas, Cambridge

This was excellent. David & Kelly provided high quality & attention to detail coupled with a personal & friendly service. The highlight was breakfast outdoors gazing over a peaceful rural landscape. We would certainly go back.

David, Edinburgh

Chestnuts truly is a special place to stay. David and Kelly were impeccable hosts. They welcomed us warmly with a home-made cream tea which we ate on a sunny lawn. They looked after every detail for us, including diligence with our son who has a nut allergy. Breakfast was first rate with local or home-made produce. The B&B enjoys a stunning setting with lovely walks all around. Our son enjoyed playing with the Robinsons’ well-behaved dogs and watching the free-range chickens. A real treat for us all.

Owen, West Sussex

This is a generous B&B with neat-as-a-pin bedrooms and a big, hearty breakfast. Guest will love all of the walking and cycling in this peaceful part of the world.

Introducing

David & Kelly Robinson

David spent over 30 years in sports, outdoor and fashion businesses and Kelly trained as a nurse. Having also brought up five children, they have since created their own special B&B – something they’ve dreamed about for years. Kelly grew up in her Mum's farm B&B in Yorkshire so making sure people are happy and well-fed is second nature to her. They’re passionate about offering their guests a wonderful stay.
