Come for deep peace and quiet; no internet, telly or phone should distract you from the serious business of simply gazing out of the pretty windows, choosing a book from a good collection or playing a board game in front of the log stove.
Owner Robert leaves you a welcome hamper and plenty of wood. You can walk to nearby Deddington (one and a half miles) for stocking up at good food shops or to choose from one of its restaurants and pubs if you don’t want to cook. As well as your own patch of garden you’ll find an orchard, a meadow and woodland to wander as well as walks along the river Cherwell. Do bring binoculars – there’s much to see and hear.
The cottage is dog friendly – you’ll even find comfy beds for them in the hard floor bits, and they’ll love the walks as much as you. Stroll down the road to The Duke at Clifton, return to chuck another log on the stove in the beamed sitting room and listen to the blessed silence.
