Old church and handsome house face each other down a village lane – and then the road runs out. In this timeless Oxfordshire valley, the white gate leads into gardens where pathways weave between borders to a kitchen garden and orchards. The house, warm-hearted and well-proportioned, has been in the family for years; your hosts (he a personal trainer, she a chef) live in one wing. Find contemporary art, bright old rugs and open fires – a happy mix of traditional and new. Bedrooms are handsome and comfortable, with excellent bath and shower rooms; Sonja’s breakfasts, served by the Aga, are a treat.

Heyford House has exceptional standards which other bed and breakfasts should seek to aspire.

We had a great room with shower. We had access to a drawing room and full access to the kitchen. Great area near rail line and canal. Our room had a gorgeous view of a church yard. Near puplic paths along the canal. We would have loved to stay longer but the house was booked. Full breakfast was delicious. Easy driving distance to numerous sights. Oxford, Bleinheim Castle, to name two. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful stay! We celebrated New Year's Eve at the house (2 families) and cooked a wonderful meal in the huge kitchen. Sonja and Leo were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome and at ease. The children enjoyed the trampoline and just running around the house. Heyford is elegant, but warm and welcoming at the same time. All of the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and warm. You could spend your visit enjoying all the wonderful books in the library which are organic to the house. The village is beautiful and we enjoyed lovely walks along the canal. We'll be back for sure. Thank you!

We spent two marvellous days at Heyford House. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, beds very comfortable, and we had use of a large drawing room and library. A delicious cooked breakfast was provided by Leo, with coffee, tea etc. available in the kitchen whenever we wanted them. We would love to return!

Really enjoyed my stay, Leo was very friendly and helpful, had an open fire in the lounge all to myself and a great breakfast. Like being allowed to use someone's luxurious house!
