The Experience

This is not your average Cotswolds barn conversion. It’s actually a very smart, contemporary architect-designed retreat. Set in a small hamlet, with sociable hosts next door to welcome you – Rachel, a florist, and Nick, a timber trader – have pooled their creativity and talents so you get beautiful stonework, clever lighting, restored beams and lots of upcycling. Kitchen units made from old doors, vintage sinks and taps… everything’s been given a utility-chic makeover. Step inside and be wowed by the sense of space: the ceiling soars and huge sliding glass doors draw your eye to long country views. Sit, drink in hand, at a breakfast bar wrapped in galvanised tin, while the cook whips up supper in the functional yet super-stylish kitchen. The living area is inviting with thick rugs, interesting art and toasty wood-burner (first basket of logs free). A glass-sided staircase transports you upstairs to two double bedrooms, each with a separate sleek bathroom and deeply restful beds dressed in neutral linens; blackout blinds mean you’ll feel utterly reinvigorated after a stay here.

Reviews

Our stay at the Field Barn was so restorative. Rachel was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the barn is very private. The setting is idyllic; close to everything in the Cotswolds, but quiet and pastoral, with an exceptional view onto fields. Everything was modern, fresh, comfortable and well-equipped. It was absolutely delightful! I wish we could have stayed here a month!

This was my second time at the Field Barn, a sublime and beautiful home immersed in the wonderful countryside and filled with light and restorative energy that both inspires and invigorates. Rachel is the perfect host and makes all aspects of the stay effortless. I will be back again soon.

Laurence, London

We recently stayed at the beautiful holiday barn, and it was an unforgettable experience. Rachel, the owner and now wonderful friend, was a fantastic host who made our stay memorable with her exceptional hospitality and kindness. The barn is in a picturesque countryside setting with stunning views and a tranquil environment that perfectly escapes city life. The barn's interior was thoughtfully designed with tasteful decor, cosy furnishings, and a well-stocked kitchen, and it was presented immaculately. Overall, our stay at the barn was exceptional, and we would highly recommend it.

Truly fabulous barn conversion. Tasteful and very comfortable - fantastic beds and linen. Great selection of crockery too! We felt at home immediately. Super location, great outlook, peaceful and quiet with many great pubs, eateries and places of interest nearby. Cutest village hall just steps away which turns into a 'freehouse' once a month. Rachel is on hand should you need anything and is totally charming. We would love to return.

Sarah, London

I gasped when I walked in. Beautiful and thoughtful decor and detail - INCREDIBLE space and so completely tranquil. So spacious yet so cosy. Could not rate it more highly.

Jeanie, Oxon

What a wonderful place to stay. Peaceful, quiet location but within easy reach of local towns, country walks and a direct train to London (1 hour). Rachel has thought of everything to make the Barn a very comfortable place to stay. There are lots of interesting quirky touches which make it unique. Huge area of grass and large patio to sit on. The welcome cake was a lovely touch!

Marjorie, Aberdeen

The barn is stunning and in such a beautiful, peaceful location. It had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend retreat. It is beautifully presented, well equipped and very comfortable. I could have moved straight in! Rachel was a great host and I will defintely be recommeding the Field Barn to others.

I can't recommend Field Barn more. An easy jaunt down the M40 from London and you are in the most beautiful, peaceful spot. We spent our evenings sipping wine on the deck looking out over the sheep in the fields, and the expansive horizon. The barn itself has clever, and stylish design using lots of upcycled materials and there is light and views from every angle. Everything just works, and there are thoughtful details including beautiful flowers around the house! We can't wait to go back.

Lucy, London

One of my favourite places! The barn conversion was thoughtfully designed, is flooded with light and has everything you need. It has been lovingly cared for by the owner - everything works and a lot of effort has been made to ensure that is super duper clean. I felt very comfortable and safe. The view is very peaceful and there are many walks straight out of the house. It was my second visit and I am planning my next visit already. Really a superb place.

We love The Field Barn so much - we've been twice already and I don't think we've seen the last of it! It's beautifully done up with such attention to detail. It's a really cool pad but still very comfortable. It's large yet still cosy and the views bring a sense of calm and relaxation - you can see for miles. I went with 2 friends and it's now our 'special place' to visit!

Kay, Bristol

The barn is *absolutely beautiful* & the view - from the huge glass doors downstairs & the large windows in the bedrooms - is breathtaking. There is also a lovely decked patio including a covered area w table and seats. The house was perfectly clean & had everything you could wish for. The beds were very comfy with heaps of blankets & extra pillows available, & the shower & bath tub are great. Best of all, our wonderful host Rachel decorated every room with beautiful bouquets of flowers & left a delicious breakfast for our arrival. Wish we could have stayed longer, & will def be coming back!

Laura, Boston

The barn is an utterly beautiful retreat in the Cotswolds with all the benefits of peaceful countryside but within walking distance of a pub! Rachel left us stunning flowers and a glorious welcome kit that had us feeling right at home. From waking up to sunshine and a view of the meadow, to drinking wine under the stars, we had the most wonderful time. We will be back as soon as we can make it!

Imogen, London

The Field Barn is a truly fantastic place to stay! The accommodation is absolutely perfect, beautiful, charming, modern, clean and notting is missing. We (= family of 4) stayed one week and could easily have stayed much longer. We enjoyed the beautiful nature, the authentic villages and wonderful pubs / restaurants nearby. The owner, Rachel Jones, gave us a warm welcome with a delicious breakfast on the table and fresh flowers in all the rooms. She was very helpful during our stay and her kindness made us feel home. We look forward to go back!

Magda, Antwerpen

We spent and idyllic few days at the Field Barn. The house is gorgeous with everything you need for a relaxing visit. Beds were so comfortable, the rooms are beautifully decorated and the host Rachel is fabulous. Thank you for a wonderful time - we will be back soon

Alexia, Bedford

We stayed for the weekend whilst visiting Oxford and Bicester Heritage. The barn is simply stunning and the location and view from the many windows is breathtakingly beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return for longer, thanks Rachel!

Tim, Kent

The Field Barn is very special. My husband and I had the most wonderful break and have come home feeling rested and rejuvenated. The field barn is a haven of tranquility in the Cotswolds - full of creativity with beautiful touches that no doubt make each stay very memorable. We're already looking to when we can visit again!

Rebecca, London

The Field Barn is a delightful take on modern rustic and really well appointed. It is very spacious and a very welcoming space, both outside and in. The location was great as we headed out to see the beautiful villages, castles and features of the Cotswolds. Don't miss the Roman Villa it was really well presented. Rachel's recommendations for restaurants and sites were great. As 2 couples this place worked really well for us, whether we were cooking ourselves or just relaxing.

Ursula, Sydney

Just returned home from a perfect long weekend at The Field Barn. The place is stunning, it has a real wow factor & that rare quality of actually looking better in reality than it does on the website! It’s all in the detail, with clever upcycling of scaffolding planks, branches & pipes, finishing touches of fresh flowers in each room and a lovely welcome breakfast pack. There’s a lovely decked patio at the back, overlooking a large field & the rolling Cotswolds landscape. Thank you Rachel for looking after us so well - we'll definitely be back!

Julie, Cheshire

We've just spent the most wonderful weekend at The Field Barn and couldn't recommend it highly enough. The setting is stunning - for 3 nights we watched the slow, vast, magical mid-summer sunsets from the terrace. The barn itself is a wonder; much of the furniture and fittings are reclaimed. It's a work of genius. The decor is lovely. But it was the tiny details that really impressed us: our every need was catered for, often before we even knew what that need was! We'll remember the weekend for a long time. Rachel looked after us so well. If you want a spot of Cotswold luxury, head here.

James, London

Just returned from a 3 day stay at Field Barn. A beautiful property, very tastefully presented. Best of all for me, a log burner - quite delightful on a couple of rainy nights. A lovely location, pheasants and birds a plenty through the huge glass doors - very relaxing. My partner particularly liked the sinks! Some very clever recycling of materials on show alongside the sleek modern features. Some good pubs to be found nearby too. Highly recommended.
