The
Experience

Sweep up the drive to a vast house with towering chimneystacks (22 at the last count!). Behind the façade of this romantic, rambling Arts & Crafts manor, you cross the cobbles and spiral up to the Old Nursery. Sideways sash windows and Pugin shutters hint at a former life; now this tranquil space is a spacious and stylish apartment, polished and plumped to perfection. Classy flower-strewn sofas rest in a calm, uncluttered sitting room and the airy open-plan kitchen holds all you need. Dine at the circular table, retire for a king-size snooze, in a bedroom overlooking a paddock of rare-breed sheep. The twin is cosy and child-friendly, the bathrooms gleam. In the late 1800s this romantic old English manor was the county home of Lord Wenlock; today’s owners have restored it to its full glory. For a family gathering, take the equally lovely Gun Room too. Set in glorious gardens and grounds, and close to the Shropshire Way, this is the best kind of country retreat, combining grand architecture with a stunning setting. Stock up for the week – deliciously – in Ludlow, Slow Food capital; Ironbridge and Much Wenlock are close.

Reviews

This is a most beautifully appointed 'cottage' in the most beautiful of counties: very quiet except for birdsong, a comfortable bed (most important) and with a private garden to sit in. Our host/hostess couldn't have been more helpful or concerned for our wellbeing. The walking and sightseeing was brilliant. This is a place to which we would certainly want to return.

Lovely apartment - both the Old Nursery and the Gun Room in a lovely Manor House in beautiful surroundings. Very welcoming and attentive owners.

Another wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Such welcoming hosts and the property really is situated in one of the most gorgeous settings in Shropshire. The accommodation is clean, fresh and incredibly comfortable, a perfect escape from the busy city life we have. There are many lovely country pubs locally to visit and some great historic towns & villages near by. We especially love the welcome goodies that are left out for us to enjoy. We really recommend staying here and we can't wait for our next visit soon. Thank you.
