Robert and Lesley are ex-restaurateurs, so guests heap praise on their food, most of which is sourced from a local butcher and fishmonger; charming Lesley is an author, runs cookery courses and once taught at Prue Leith’s. This is the perfect, pretty Somerset cottage, with an apple orchard and views to the church across a cottage garden and a field. The bedrooms are light, restful and have a country-style simplicity with their green check bedspreads, white walls and antique pine furniture; guests have their own comfortable sitting room. Easy access to the M5 yet with a rural feel. Very special.

I have been staying at Causeway Cottage every year for at least the last ten years. As a Life Member of Somerset CCC living in West London i cannot imagine a more agreeable place to rest my head after the highs and lows of a day at the County Ground in Taunton. I have brought my wife and son and my oldest friend with me on at least two visits each year. Always our welcome has been warm and genuine, the rooms extremely comfortable and the breakfasts and dinners delicious. Lesley is a Cordon Bleu cook and both she and Robert are the friendliest and most attentive hosts. We are frequent travellers in the UK and abroad. This is a special place to stay run by very charming people.

Whenever we travel West we always stay for 2/3 nights, sometimes more because Lesley and Rob are perfect hosts. We would strongly recommend Lesley's evening meals, which are exceptional and you would be foolish to go out for a meal! The tea and cake on the lawn are a tonic after a day out You have a wide choice for breakfast and the rooms are clean, comfortable with excellent washing facilities. The atmosphere is relaxed and you are made to feel welcome. They are always pleased to make suggestions for places to visit & walk within easy reach. West Buckland is just minutes off J26 of the M5.

After a very warm welcome we were guided into Rob and Lesley's beautiful garden and offered tea and cake, before being shown to our very comfortable room - clean and above all very quiet. We hadn't pre-booked an evening meal, but Lesley gave us directions to a local pub that served food The walk was extremely pleasant and further served to de-stress. Breakfast was excellent. This was our first experience using a B&B and my wife and I both thought it exceptional. We left wondering why we had been using sterile budget motels when places like this exist. We will use Causeway cottage again!

Beautiful cottage. Very comfortable and although near the M5 there was no noise in the bedrooms. We had a lovely drink in the garden before an excellent meal cooked by Lesley. Will visit again if in the area.
