The Experience

The food, the views – amazing! Tim is a passionate cook, and he and Sarah want you to enjoy their friendly open house. Settle in with tea and Tim’s high-rise scones and look out over Seaborough Hill. Their 1960s bungalow is immaculate: white walls, gleaming oak floors, toasty wood-burner and French windows onto the garden. Perfect bedrooms have inviting beds and pots of sweet peas; bathrooms sparkle. Pad through to breakfast in the airy sitting/dining room – or out on the sunny deck: eggs from across the valley, smoked salmon, Dorset bacon, organic tomatoes, homemade bread, granola and jams… It’s a treat to stay here.

Tim and Sarah are warm and welcoming from the very beginning and their immaculate, beautifully appointed modern bungalow felt like home from the start. Our bedroom was spacious, light and quiet with a commodious modern en-suite bathroom and we loved spending autumn evenings in the guests' sitting room. Everything is well thought out with great attention to detail. Tim's cooking is phenomenal, not least his ability to create light, fluffy scones and croissants with rye flour to accommodate a wheat allergy, plus a wide choice of fabulous breakfasts to suit every taste. We'd definitely go again!

We agree with Caroline ( last review ) Fairways IS the best B & B in the world. It is AB FAB We keep going back and Sara and Tim maintain their superb hospitality

Eileen & rod, Market harborough

The best B&B on the planet! We’ve stayed here countless times, and every single stay is such a treat. Tim and Sarah’s wonderful welcome and discreet hospitality means their beautifully and tastefully appointed home feels like yours from the moment you arrive. Clever design separates the guests’ lovely bedrooms and sitting room from that of the hosts, so you can kick back and luxuriate in complete comfort. The bedrooms have everything you could possibly need for a wonderful night’s sleep. And the breakfasts? Superb. Don’t have supper the night before - and you won’t need lunch afterwards!

Caroline, Tring

Superb hospitality from the food provided to the beautifully presented accommodation, all to a very high standard. One of the best we have experienced over our many years of 'Bed & Breakfasting'

Stephen and bunty, Cirencester

We rate Fairways higher than any other B&B we have ever stayed in. Comfortable, modern, quietly stylish furniture, indoors and out. Phenomenal attention to detail of both furnishings and provisions. Seriously sourced, well prepared and nicely served food (the plum Tarte Tatin was a little masterpiece). Hosts at once charming and friendly and utterly professional. And a stupendous view of the Somersetshire countryside from the terrace.

Nick & helen, London

Our fourth visit to Fairways. Extra special again. The best B & B.

Friendly Amazing Informal Restful Wonderful Awesome Yummy Scenic

Jane & james, St albans

I usually plump for Sawday's "old rectories" but was so glad I broke with custom and alighted on Fairways when I visited Somerset. Its light and airy modernity - far more spacious than the website pictures suggest - were a delight. Agree with other postings about the beds, toiletries, breakfasts... wonderful local produce. We were lucky enough to coincide with a heatwave, so were able to eat on the terrace with its amazing views. I couldn't fault a thing.

Stephen, Cardiff

our stay was superb , Fairways is modern , comfortable , tasteful and spotlessly clean. Tim & Sarah are warm ,well travelled, interesting people who understand how to be attentive without being invasive. Breakfasts were outstanding , Tim is an excellent cook and our veggie/g.f. requirements were no obstacle . We've discovered that this part of the world has much to offer and with Fairways such an excellent base we plan to happily explore more .

Steve, Ventnor

Simply the best! Wow - we were in awe of your beautiful B&B the peace, tranquility, outstanding views and how we were made so welcome. AFTERNOON TEA on arrival was a delicious treat! BREAKFAST...what a way to start to the day and DINNER (we definitely recommend dinner) was AMAZING!!! We live in Australia And are sad we cannot visit more often. It is our intention to return one day but for now remain envious of anyone who chooses to stay at Fairways! We have left a more detailed review on Trip Advisor. Thank you Tim & Sarah...wishing you both a Happy and Healthy 2019

Susan & peter, Perth, western australia

Sarah and Tim are welcoming and kind. Delicious food, comfortable modern bedroom, fabulous views. Fairways is to be highly recommended. Will be returning!!! 10 out of 10

Adrian, Wimborne

One word - EXCELLENT.

Pauline, Badby

This was our second visit to Fairways. We were greeted by Sarah and Tim on arrival and were given a lovely afternoon tea. The room we stayed in had everything we could wish for. The comfy bed, the silk filled duvet and a good supply of toiletries in the super bathroom. We had dinner and Tim's cooking is extra special. We were able to sit in the guest dining room for as long as we wanted. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We shall certainly return.

Marion, Bromley

This b&b is really exceptional. Tim and Sarah's attention to detail and comfort makes your stay so enjoyable it is difficult to leave! The bedrooms are beautifully furnished with comfy beds, beautiful linen, silk filled duvets. The bath room is spotless with plenty of hot water and fluffy towels and bath robes- just like a 5 star hotel. Tim cooks the most wonderful suppers and breakfasts- not forgetting the cream tea on your arrival- what more could you ask for? This is our second visit this time with an elderly father who thought everything was 'just marvellous'!

Cathy, Chichester

Our fourth visit to the best bed and breakfast experience ever. Tim and Sarah, the most welcoming and warmest of hosts, have created a perfect place to stay in a lovely area of Somerset. Ensuite rooms are immaculate and luxurious with super comfortable beds and thick, fluffy towels and there is a comfortable lounge and terrace with lovely views. Breakfasts are delicious and Tim, who is an imaginative and creative chef, will produce wondrous three course suppers if you ask. Do check their website for photos, imaginatively prepared and presented.

Margaret, Northampton

Fairways must be one of the best bed and breakfast establishments that we have visited. Tim and Sarah are most welcoming hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Fairways is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We booked dinner for the first night and were so impressed with the food that Tim prepared we had dinner again on our second night, which was once again perfect. We will definitely visit Fairways again when we are in the area.

Bruce, Norwich

A huge thumbs up - 11 out of 10! - Tim and Sarah go out of their way to cosset you from the moment you arrive to the time when you tear yourself away. They have designed your experience with great care leaving nothing out - the rooms are immaculate and scrupulously clean, the food is as per the website - excellent - and the situation quiet with lovely views. If in this area again - we will most certainly return to Fairways. Thanks you Tim and Sarah for a lovely stay!

Robin, Reading

Ultimate tranquility. Charming and thoughtful hosts. Crosswords books with pencils; binoculars for the birdlife; sumptuous silk duvets; comprehensive information leaflets about local attractions; fast Wi-Fi connection; fresh milk for early morning tea; a wide range of seating alternatives on the deck and comfortable chairs and sofas in the guest lounge all contributed to a very memorable stay. Then there was Tim’s food. His breakfasts cater for every conceivable taste and the optional evening meal was a triumph. We cannot recommend this B&B too highly. Thank you Sarah and Tim.

Adrian, Somerton

We were so lucky to find this wonderful b/b run by Tim and Sarah from the moment we arrived the warm scones, clotted cream and tea were so welcoming. It was the best we had ever stayed in the comfort of the bed, pillows, bathrobes and beautiful setting, we had a very relaxing 3 night stay. Fantastic breakfasts we enjoyed every minute of our stay and will recommend it to others. We shall be back next year. Regards Anne and James Windle - Dingle Peninsula, Co Kerry

Local points of interest from Sarah & Tim Dommett

  • Have a look at our video on our website. It was filmed about 5 years ago and there have been one or two changes ... currently Tim doesn't have a beard owing to an oops moment when he was clipping it! We're still loving running B&B as much as we did then.
  • Fancy a day at the seaside? Lyme Regis on Dorset's Jurassic Coast is just a 25-minute drive! Great food and great fun. Walk along the Cobb and watch teams of energetic folks gig rowing on a Sunday morning. Bridport and West Bay are also within easy reach.
  • National Trust properties and gardens Barrington Court, Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House, Tintinhull and Stourhead are not too far away. Perfect if you want to mosey around at your own pace and gather a few mementos in the famous National Trust Shops
  • The Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford near Yeovil, just off the A303 is a truly fantastic trip down memory lane, whether or not you're into vintage cars. Remember your old car of the 1960s? It's probably there, looking very bright and shiny!
  • Fairways is a place to relax. Many guests have said how successful booking both our bedrooms is for house-parties. If the 2nd bedroom isn't occupied, you'll have the lovely guest sitting-room with French windows to the deck to yourselves.
  • Fancy a walk before breakfast? There's an easy 2-mile stroll down to the little hamlet of Hewish where you can pop a postcard in the letterbox, or there's Tim's 6-mile walk up and over the hill which is more of a challenge but worth it for the fab views!
