The Experience
Gather friends or family – the house has loads of space and is crying out for happy times with people you enjoy. Bibliophiles will find inspiration in every room and cooks will bustle happily in the enormous kitchen, but award-winning cook Diana will happily give you all your meals (including breakfast) or rustle up a picnic. Children can explore no fewer than three staircases or find a treehouse in the garden and table tennis too.
In winter you’ll be snug with open fires in the drawing room and in the dining room with its Regency table. The TV room has a big screen, there are DVDs and a Bose sound system. In summer you’ll be flinging open the doors and doing everything outside: lawns to sprawl on, a paddock with a stream for picnics, a tennis court, supper in the walled garden. Bake in the sauna, jump in an ice bath.
Walk half a mile along a safe path to the village shop and a good pub. Visit the organic farmers’ market every fourth Saturday. Cleaning, housekeeping or babysitting can be arranged.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're on the edge of the village of Milverton, well known for its Georgian architecture. It's a lively village with a good pub, a shop and post office and a 13th-century church. Wimbleball Lake is a short drive for paddle boarding, fishing and boating. Walkers and cyclists can join the Coleridge Way. Exmoor is half an hour in the car for bucolic countryside and pretty villages with great pubs.
Local points of interest from Helen
- Falling asleep to the twoo-twoo sounds of an owl is magical after a beautiful evening surrounded by our art and book collections uplifted by the firecracker hues of the kitchen and and dining room and the open fires or surrounded by the secret garden.
- The garden gates lead to a rambling path and short walk to the gorgeous Georgian village of Milverton with its 13th century church, village shop and pub, street fairs and fetes.
- Scramble around the Quantocks, an area of outstanding natural beauty with fabulous pubs, The Rising Sun and The Blue Ball and eat and drink local fresh delicacies as well as heartwarming feasts.
- Wander into Xanadu on the Coleridge Way and discover ancient Somerset and the hills and dales leading to Porlock Bay, ancient churches, pagan rituals and Exmoor within a forty minute drive.
- Or enjoy our secret garden with its Victorian walled garden for alfresco lunches and dinners and peaceful tennis or wander down to the stream and have a picnic in a field or even swim in the river or wait for passing otters....look for badgers early..
- Somerset is ancient and inspiring and fresh and peaceful with much to discover or just observe and simply enjoy. Within an hour are the wonders of Glastonbuy, fashionable Bruton and galleries and restaurants, but not too near!

Introducing
Helen
Helen is a fashion designer based in London and Turkey and she's owned the house for many years, bringing up her three girls here. Now that her children have flown the nest she would very much like to share it with others. She'll be there to meet and greet you on arrival.
We had a really amazing time in this stunning house and garden. The house couldn’t be more comfortable and beautifully decorated throughout. The gardens are extensive and the tennis court superb fun. We also had two fantastic dinners cooked by Diana which couldn’t have been nicer. Overall, one of the nicest places we’ve stayed, highly recommend.
