The Experience

Restored stable, hayloft and cottage… take your pick from imaginatively restored spaces. Oak-beamed bedrooms have well-dressed beds, sofas, reclamation finds, books and biscuits; “Hayloft” has a wood-burner; “Paddock” and “Orchard” can interconnect for a family. Amble over to the friendly kitchen in the main house for breakfast: homemade granola, organic porridge, all sorts of cooked choices – pop your menu-sheet in the ‘bread bin’ by the back door in the evening; Emma will bring over a continental breakfast to your room if preferred. Sunny sitting spots in the garden, a scramble up Glastonbury Tor, a stroll to a good supper at the pub…

We stayed at Keepers Cottage for a weekend. We were attending a course in Glastonbury. After busy days, we could not have wished for a better place to return to each evening. Emma, you have really thought of everything. Our room was beautiful and immaculately clean. Choose to have a breakfast hamper delivered to your room, or eat a delicious breakfast at Emma's dining table. It was a delight to stay at Keepers Cottage, our expectations were exceeded on every level. Thank you

We left Keepers Cottage in no doubt that this was the best B&B we have ever been to. Attention to detail on every level made our visit feel like a little slice of luxury. Emma is a wonderful chef, we highly recommend the pop up supper and our breakfast hamper was perfect. All that in a stunning setting, views galore and beautiful buildings.

Just spent a long November weekend unwinding in the luxury of Keepers Cottage. Emma is welcoming, thoughtful and made our stay perfect. We totally recommend Emma's fabulous breakfast hamper with it's home baked muffins, granola, croissants, toast, local jams etc. Yum! And the home made biscuits that are waiting for you on arrival alone are worth the trip to Somerset :-) The cottage is comfy, warm and well equipped with a good attention to detail ensuring that you feel pampered (L'Occitane in the bathroom). The location is perfect for exploring the area. Would visit again. Mark & Caroline.

What a great place to stay, Emma our host is doing a splendid job of looking after her visitors in this new venture. We were at Keepers for three nights, staying in Orchard. A lovely warm, cosy and spacious 'apartment' with it's own separate entrance situated in a beautiful garden in secluded countryside. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of freshly cooked and very tasty fare or Emma's home made granola or both. We had good advice of where to eat nearby and one evening walked to the nearest pub (Rose and Portcullis) which was also very good and busy.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Emma Taylor

  • Our bit of Somerset is home to some fantastic places to eat from village pubs, to cool restaurants (such as Roth Bar & Grill, and At The Chapel in Bruton) to pop-ups. There are lots we can recommend. Our fab village local the R&P is just along the lane!
  • We also hold a pop-up restaurant here at home once a month. If you fancy eating in - it's a delicious five course, tasting-style menu for £42 cooked by your host Emma.
  • Culture vultures will be spoilt for choice with a vibrant local art & live music scene, and world class, world famous draws such as Hauser & Wirth gallery and Glastonbury music Festival (NB we are about 20mins away by car but NOT affected by noise/ traffic
  • Somerset is famous for the Starling "murmurations" and the nearby RSPB Ham Wall & Shapwick Heath reserve are top viewing spots in the UK. The starlings can often be seen passing over Keepers, and we also have bats, deer, hare in our fields & garden.
  • We're just a few miles from Glastonbury Tor, which dominates the skyline; we'd suggest an early walk to the top on a fine morning. The Abbey ruins are spectacular and the town has a unique, alternative character & good cafes to while away a lazy afternoon.
  • We’re also near to the charming historic market town of Somerton, Wells with its beautiful Cathedral, the frankly gorgeous Sherborne, and Bath with its Roman Baths and iconic Royal Crescent. For the active there's fabulous walking from our doorstep.
