If you want to write undisturbed, enrol on one of the courses or escape and meditate, this is just the ticket. It’s incredibly peaceful. Helpful, friendly staff welcome you at reception; functional communal spaces include a bar, TV lounge and library. Simple en suite bedrooms are clean as a whistle; the trio of rooms across the courtyard are bigger. Breakfast is continental, lunches are generous, suppers light. You can enjoy the beautiful gardens, swim in the pool in summer, ponder in the all faiths chapel, read by pots of geraniums, walk in woodland. It’s not luxurious or typically homely but we admire the ethos of this place.
