The Experience

Ancient oak beams have been carefully kept in this smart Suffolk barn conversion. It’s a family affair here: friendly sisters Sally and Rosie give you contemporary bedrooms with artistic touches, king-sized beds, sleek bathrooms and drench showers. Breakfast is served at two scrubbed pine tables in the airy slate-floored breakfast room; a big blackboard lists tasty choices – everything from home-laid eggs and local sausages to home-grown tomatoes and muesli. Masses to do nearby: Snape Maltings music, wonderful old churches, summer festivals, the Heritage Coast… A great place for a peaceful holiday with a group of friends.

Reviews

What a lovely stay we had at Trustans Barn! Everybody we met was very nice and the cleanliness and care taken over dealing with the requirements of the dreaded virus was second to none. We even had our own bell tent to use for great breakfasts and the odd glass of wine! The room was first class and you can wander around the lovely peaceful grounds; there are a couple of nice foodie pubs in walking distance and this area near the Suffolk coast is very charming. We would certainly plan to visit again in the future. Thanks to all and good luck!

This was our second visit to this gorgeous b&b and we absolutely love it here.. From the moment of arriving we were welcomed by Sally who remembered us from our previous visit! The room was delightful and so comfortable ....... breakfast was wonderful and Trish was so helpful and made you feel really set up for the day ahead. Rosie would be there at breakfast to chat about visits for the day and recommend local places to visit......she talked about Dunwich Heath which was gorgeous with the Autumn colours. Sally has also made a walk around the farm & b&b which shows off her artwork! We love it

Trustans Barn is the most idyllic place to stay....we even added an extra day to make the most of the lovely surroundings! Sally and Rosie are wonderful hosts...so helpful and great to talk to! The rooms are a wonderful standard...5 star and a great place to return to after a busy day exploring. Location was great with local pubs nearby...very impressed with the food and atmosphere at the Westleton Crown. We will definitely be visiting again!

Local points of interest from Sally Prime

  • You can expect a friendly family welcome at Trustans Barn. We feel so lucky to live in such a pretty, peaceful part of Suffolk's Heritage Coast and love that we are able to offer our guests the opportunity to come and share this with us.
  • The barn is set in twenty eight acres of beautiful meadowland. The meadows are often used for grazing for sheep, lambs and cows but if you visit in early summer you can sit back and relax to watch the harvest and take in the aroma of the freshly cut hay.
  • We are surounded by wildlife. From your window you are sure to spot rabbits, pheasants, partridges and a whole host of songbirds roaming the gardens. If you are lucky you might even spot the owl hunting in the meadow or the stoat peeping in your window.
  • Around the farm you are also likely to meet some of our animals. Our fourteen happy hens roam around the pond when they are not busy laying delicious eggs for breakfast. You might also meet Will and Lavender the Shetland ponies or the many pet bunnies.
  • Darsham Nurseries and Cafe is just a short walk by footpath over the fields from the barn. They have a brilliant reputation for offering something a little different for lunches and afternoon tea. Well worth a visit if you still have room after breakfast!
  • Emmerdale Farmshop is also on our doorstep. All of our meat is sourced from their butcher who raises all his own beef and stocks local pork and other locally produced food. Many guests go home laden with fresh Suffolk produce to stock their their shelves.
