The Experience

The beautiful Surrey Hills surround this smart home overlooking the village green. Joanna’s house gets the sun all day and has a country chic feel. She looks after you well, and gives you tea and cake on arrival, cosy, pretty bedrooms in the eaves and locally sourced and homemade treats at breakfast. Her catering business is run from the house so there are always people coming and going – this is a fun place to stay with a lovely friendly feel. Hop next door for a tasty supper at The Grumpy Mole (popular so you need to book). Near Dorking, and handy for Gatwick, too – it’s a 20-minute drive.

South Lodge is an exceptionally well run B&B with a crisp, efficient, welcome from Joanna Rowlands, an immaculate and well equipped bedroom and a breakfast at which nothing seemed too much trouble. HIghly recommended.

David, No city warwickshire

How welcoming it feels to step through the front door of Joanna's lovely Victorian home - pot of tea and delicious homemade cake waiting. It's a great spot in the heart of a delightful village with rooms overlooking the big green or the church, and a great south-facing garden for the summer. There's a great attention to detail here; I loved the maps and books on Dorking and the foodie magazines.

Becca, Sawday's inspector

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and found the accommodation to be very comfortable and the location to be excellent in the centre of Brockham adjoining the village green with pubs, coffee shops, village store etc. all on the doorstep. We stayed here as a base for visiting Kew Gardens and Hampton Court but it is worth staying just for the breakfasts, which are exceptional. Joanna is a lovely host and everything you might want in a B&B is provided.

Rolf, Derby

Joyful, bustling, cute dogs, comfortable sleep, exquisite breakfast with extras like fresh mint and strawberries in our jug of water and freshly squeezed blood orange juice. Joanna is a wonderful, charming host who does everything with style and panache yet also friendly, welcoming, calm and peaceful. The sun always seems to shine here. We love to stay here on our way to and from visiting family and will definitely be back again.

Nigel and christine, Bude, cornwall

Very nice hosts! Cosy house and garden. Very nice rooms, handmade Shortbread offered! Also delicious breakfast and friendly support in getting a table in the restaurant beside South Lodge. Unfortunately we could not stay longer due to end of our trip. Highly recommended hosts!

A lovely break in the middle of a cold and wet late Autumn. We received a warm welcome with freshly made mince pies and this warmth continued throughout the stay. Joanna and Paul are friendly hosts; breakfast was delicious and ample, and the toiletries in the bathroom were locally sourced and suitably luxurious. A beautiful house with comfortable bedrooms - what more could you ask for?
