The Cloudesley

The Cloudsley is an artistic haven in streets of St Leonards, close to local cafes and bars but away from the seafront throngs. A grand old Victorian house has been lovingly converted into a stylish BnB by the artistic owner, Shahriar. He is a photographer, prize winning garden designer and not a bad cook either. The attention to detail is everywhere here. This is a great base to explore St Leonard's and Hastings.

Beautiful house in a strategic position. Each room is different and you can find a lot of pice of art. The owner is very kind and eclectic: he is a painter, a photographer, a gardener and a good cooker!!!

Shahriar was the perfect host, on entering his beautiful home, any stress just melted away once meeting Shahriar's calming soothing effect. We spent 2 nights at The Cloudesley, the breakfasts were a delightful joy to experience, so fresh, slightly different, very tasty and healthy. The Cloudesley is a very spacious, perfectly furnished home with period treasures that sets it apart. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Keith and Shirley.

The Coudesley was ideal for us. It was quiet, the bed very comfortable, the room nicely, decorated albeit individually, and the small garden charming. Shariah, as host, made us most welcome and took time to talk about some of the interethings on display, his garden, and his paintings. Breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs -which is what we requested, other alternatives were available - was excellent. The en-suite bathroom was a trifle tight, but other rooms may be different. We found a very good restaurant within walking distance. The whole stay was most agreeable and we would return.

When arranging the inspection, Shahriar assumed I would spend the night. I wish I had! That was my impression when I left, that I would love to stay there next time I go to Hastings. There is nothing bland or factory-made about this very thoughtfully and tastefully designed B&B. There is nothing to offend the senses - and everything to stimulate and satisfy them.

fantastic weekend away with the kids at the Cloudesley! The host was exquisitely nice, the room very refined and clean…and the bed super comfortable! The breakfast is delicious, and if you need a treat ask for the special organic porridge with Ceylon cinnamon…you will not regret it! When we arrived at the property the host came to greet us. He was very gracious and gave us a tour around the property - we were on the top floor in a pretty room with simple but elegant decoration (The bonus being that we could see the horizon sea view from our window). The house was beautifully creatively decorated as the owner was a keen artist and photographer. The breakfasts were not only incredibly tasty but creatively arranged and everyday was a delight to behold. The owner Shahriar was a lovely man and really made the trip special - I would return here in a heartbeat!

We had a very comfortable 3 day stay at The Cloudesley. Shariah made us very welcome, we had a beautifully furnished bedroom and found it to be a very peaceful house. We slept so well during our stay as the bed was so comfortable. Breakfasts were varied and delicious with a variety of omelettes, fresh fruit, toast etc. Shariah suggested several places to eat in the evenings and we were never disappointed. We will be recommending The Cloudesley to our friends.

Welcoming and gracious, Shariar was an attentive and interesting host. His accomplishments in art extend to his interior design skills ... we found the furnishings and paint work to be carefully coordinated, restful and completed to a very high standard. He has successfully created a peaceful, calming environment. Breakfast was a pleasure, combining as it did the tried and trusted - ‘traditional English’ with more unexpected recipes - fig, armagnac and prosciutto omelette. Definitely the place to return to when staying in the Hastings area. Thank you Shahriar.

We had a brilliant stay at The Cloudesley - the house is full of wonderful art and antiques. Your host Shahriar is so attentive and kind, and his breakfasts are delicious! We particularly loved the pancakes, using blueberries from the garden.

Shahriar made us feel incredibly welcome. He gave us a fascinating insight into the artefacts, paintings and photography on display. The garden is beautiful and we came away with a haul of plums, picked fresh from the tree. Ensure you have plenty of room for breakfast, it's a feast.

My wife, son and I stayed at the Cloudesley for one night and had a wonderful time. We were made most welcome by Shahriar, who gave us numerous gardening tips, and we had a most peaceful and relaxing time during our stay. The room was clean and spacious and the cooked breakfast was amazing. Highly recommended.

We are not ones to post recommendations, but have no hesitation in giving a big thumbs up for the Cloudesley - a well furnished comfortable bedroom, interesting photography on the walls, and Shahriar - a delightful host who went out of his way to meet our particular dietary requirements.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Cloudesley for one night over the weekend and we loved it. The host could not have been more helpful and gave us brilliant recommendations for both dinner and our Sunday trip - on top of this Breakfast was wonderful. We highly recommend staying!

Two couples -two nights- exceptional accommodation. Amazing breakfasts especially the Armagnac omelette. Our rooms were cleaned and replenished to hotel standard. Two minor hiccups were difficulty in accessing wifi and the premises are not licensed as stated. Neither stopped us from having a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights and we were very pleased with the accommodation. Lovely Victorian house which has been modernised to a high level. The host was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Breakfast was very good with plenty of wholesome organic, fresh, local produce, we will definitely stay here again, thank you Shahria , best wishes.
