Cross the road and into a field for a five-minute stride to the sandy beach with a surf school and a cafe, The Landing, where you can get croissants, sandwiches and coffees. You can also walk to a good pub, The Old House at Home. But the kitchen here is very well equipped for even dedicated cooks, with a big table, and you’ll find all the basics – just replace what you use.
Relax in the large, light sitting room with good antiques, fresh flowers and a log fire – there’s another big table in here too. All the colours are gentle and warm, art adorns the walls and doors are thick and chunky. There’s a utility room for sandy gear or muddy boots, a raised and rustic patio area outside with a barbecue, and bedrooms with thick mattresses and crisp cotton.
Pack up a picnic and head to the beach, walk into the village for a good butcher and a little newsagent selling everything.
